Just read the article that the RDS Showcase Team played the Georgia ODP team (2010/11s) on Friday and curious how the game went? Sounds like a great opportunity for both teams. Did anyone have a player there? How did the teams/players compare? Final score? Take aways?

Oh yes--you are correct. That was my mistake; I messed up the birth years when I typed the post, but this is the article I read, too. Just wondering how the RDS Showcase team looked out there compared to the ODP Team with this being (I believe) the inaugural Showcase team, and who ended up winning? |

The 2010 boys was basically odp v odp. The top kids from the rds team were basically on the odp team minus the goalkeeper. The georgia odp 2010 age group hands down has some of the strongest talent in the region and the coaching is top notch. Focus is on working the ball from the back. Highly recommend.

ODP? Hmmmmm...
Those 3 letters seem to always get bashed on this forum. Glad to see a positive post. Kid enjoyed his 4 years of playing on the state team.

So what is the difference between RDS and ODP? Trying to learn the ropes since my son just finished up his first RDS session at the U9 level. Was impressed with the speed and the skill level of the group.

Was impressed with the speed and the skill level of the group. Technically, you have to tryout from a pool of players within the same year for ODP from the entire state. For RDS, there are multiple locations and yes, technically you have to "try-out" but it's based on what location you choose to tryout that determines who you tryout with. Both involve $$$, though ODP involves a few more coins, especially when you add in, coaches fees, tournaments and out of state games... |

ODP was very reasonable. $750 for season with training at AU training grounds. Not sure where they train now. If kid was selected for state team, additional fees were charged but again reasonable for week at U of Alabama. With Covid that location may not be where they go now. Well worth the fees.
