Has anyone here experienced consistency within clubs for girls soccer with the coach and roster. Specifically, in the 2012 and 2013 ages. We have had a very inconsistent experience with who coaches the games and the roster being made up of mixed ages and different players.
We are looking for options for the next try outs but if these types of inconsistencies are common, then it would help in deciding where our daughter can have the best overall experience.

The only consistency in youth soccer is change.

Really depends on the club. It sounds like you're either at a club that pools players/teams/age groups purposely (because that's what they believe in doing) and/or they're smaller in size so they're forced to do this. That said, there are a lot of clubs in Atlanta that don't do it this way, where your kid makes a specific team, stays on that team all year and the coach is the same for both fall & spring. There are pros and cons to that approach, so you may desire that situation but then your daughter lands on a team that isn't very good and/or gets a coach that isn't very good. And you have zero ability to change the situation, outside of getting a release from the club and finding another, which can be costly and a hassle.

It looks like you are in the early ages of club soccer. What it sounds like you are witnessing is what clubs refer to as "player pools". Some clubs (large or small) like this method to get everyone involved, especially at such a young age, and to see where certain players fit in a particular skill level. This way they can more evenly match competition to get the most growth out of the kids. Within that, you usually wind up with a core of "same-level" players and then "bubble" players that, depending on the week and the competition level, might fit, or not fit, as a team for that particular week. Often times, because a player might be moved from one pool to another pool, you also wind up getting a different coach for that particular week. However, you also mentioned mixing ages. Although you didn't specify, if they are doing that, it sounds like you might be at a smaller club?? This is typically done because they don't have the numbers to fill out multiple "same-level" teams. I could very well be wrong in my assumption. If you are looking for options, and have opinions on whether or not you want a consistent team for your child or see the value in pooling players, I would recommend contacting each potential club and inquiring about how they handle these young age groups (referencing whether or not they pool players, or have one consistent coach). Both "player pools" and a "single rostered" team can have its advantages and disadvantages. I don't know if one is better than the other, it kinda depends on what you are looking to get out of it for your child. Anyway, just my thoughts and insight.... Good Luck!

Thanks so much everyone that has commented. Our scenario is the clubs location is smaller in size. We are leaning in the direction of a location that is larger and with more options/experiences, even if that means the consistency is still not great. As long as our daughter is having fun and growing her skill set, exposure to different styles and situations won’t be a bad thing!
The communication in this forum has been great, if only it was this good from the clubs 😀

My daughter is a 2012 and, from speaking with coaches at different clubs, the number of 2012 girls playing academy soccer seems low compared to 2013 and 2011 participants and this may have caused the inconsistency.
As it gets closer to May, it may be worthwhile to see if there is an open house or a practice your daughter can attend to get a feel for either the club's pooling system (and what their numbers look like) or the potential team.

The communication in this forum has been great, if only it was this good from the clubs 😀 In addition to all the great comments and suggestions, I would say ask yourself this question: is your kid being developed at her current club, is she having fun while learning the game and is she getting to tryout different positions on the field? Sometimes, the bigger clubs pigeon-hole your kid into a particular position, sometimes based on need, size or soccer IQ. Also the bigger clubs sometimes play the fun out of the game and put undue pressure on the youngsters. I am a firm believer in allowing the right position for the child to come to them naturally, sometimes as late as U14/15. Just saying - Hope Solo used to be a phenom as Striker and transitioned to GK full time when she got to college...
