Not surprising. Pretty similar to how other elite youngsters make it in other major sports. 1.2% of college basketball players make it to the NBA.
I think that because we are so involved in soccer that we forget the larger overall picture that never few make it to the pros. With these numbers, Atlanta United should be getting 1 kid out of the academy every 3 to 4 years that make it to the first team. If they hit on more than that, they are beating the curve.

So enjoy the ride…and have a plan when it’s time to hang up your boots… Whenever that may be. I appreciate the fact that the EPL is addressing the mental health aspects…this was long overdue.

That probably makes sense -- I didn't look at all the numbers, but if you assume the top academies is 6 clubs, 6 clubs x 23 kids in lets say the u17 age group= 138 kids, that would mean between 4-5 of the kids each year make it. maybe 1 kid from each club annually. Seems to make sense.

This is why I think the College to Pro path is a great option. With the stats in mind if you are 16/17 at a Pro Academy and not getting any USL/ Semi Pro time then that should be the pathway.
You have a very slim chance to go pro (in any sport) out of College so why not go play for 4/5 years and get that degree.

The Championship, League One or League 2(all 3 of which pay a living wage), or to the US to take college spots from our children failed by the USSF and the youth leagues they sanction.

I think if they have been paid -- they come to NAIA schools, if they have not been paid they come take all our children's scholarship money and force our kids to play soccer at Southwest Tech Georgia Perimeter college of the south.
