As an FSU fan, I can honestly say this is a shocker. No word yet on where he is going, or who will be replacing him. Krikorian Steps Down

Wow -- has to be about $$$ (salary and resources for the program). Just guessing.

Atlanta United's equivalent to Tata for an NWSL expansion team? Maybe we can collectively wish it into existence.

Wow -- has to be about $$$ (salary and resources for the program). Just guessing. I doubt that. FSU has plenty of money and resources and has a good turnout for their games etc. I think it more about lifestyle. I think some of these coaches get tired of the grind.

From what I hear, that’s probably right. His son graduates from high school this year. I wish him the best.

He specifically stated it wasn't about money as the new AD offered him a very nice new contract. He was there for 17 years, and I'm guessing he wants a little of a break. I'm sure he will end up coaching again somewhere, but I'm thinking it will be a year or two before it happens.

This is huge. He has done an awesome job with that program. Do the promote from inhouse or go outside the program? It will be interesting.

Burned out -- seems a college gig once you get to this level would be a dream job. Recruiting handles it self and you have a staff in place you can trust.
I doubt a professional job can pay him what he was getting paid, unless he took over the USWNT or got into coaching men at the higher level.
or maybe he's done, and becomes an administrator in some level of the game.

So - I knew the gators message board would come through.
Somebody posted this on a gator board
“While I can’t get into who is right or wrong because most of what I’ve been told is from people who are loyal to one side or the other – to Krikorian or to the FSU administration – the bottom line is there was a breakdown in the relationship. Multiple sources say Krikorian felt he was led to believe the improvements were coming, and then they weren’t. Or at least not as soon as he expected.”

Multiple sources say Krikorian felt he was led to believe the improvements were coming, and then they weren’t. Or at least not as soon as he expected.” That came from this Warchant.com article which discussed Krikorian leaving as well as the Women's Basketball coach leaving. I don't necessarily believe this issue is the new AD, but it might be. The bottom line is FSU appears to be spending to improve things for the football program, and putting the other sports on the back burner. I find it interesting they are approaching the new coaching hires as polar opposites. They promoted from within for the basketball team, but have already announced a national search committee to replace Krikorian. Honestly, I don't have any confidence the new AD will get the hire right.
