Sounds like they think the World Cup pot 1 is pretty much set. Still crazy, Italy is the current fifa No.6 ranked team.... Don't quite get why the host team gets/lands in Pot 1 -- seems that is going to really mess some groups up. In the draw itself, only European nations can be grouped with each other (a maximum of two in a group), with teams from all other confederations cannot be paired together (so, for example, the U.S. would not be able to be in Canada’s group). Pot 1 potentially Qatar Brazil Belgium France Argentina England Spain Portugal Pot 2 is where it gets interesting, only because it's going to make up some strong groups for the Cup. Netherlands Denmark Germany Switzerland Uruguay Croatia Still Waiting: USA Mexico Senegal from: www.si.com/soccer/2022/03/30/world-cup-2022-draw-pots-qualifying-fifa-ranking

If USA and Mexico both advance, they will be in Pot 2 and it will be complete. Other than Qatar, which pot 1 team do you hope the USA has in its group?

Crazy thinking that 2026 will expand to 48 teams, going to be some bad teams making the world cup from here on out but at least the US will quality.....

Hard to know who they will call in but Spain is weird. Kind of a hot and cold team. Might get them on an off day where all they do is pass and never go in to take any good shots (like a few of the Euro games) Argentina is just not that impressive to me except Messi. Will have to see. All of the teams in Pot 1 are amazing so this is all in reference to each other not the US.

I was thinking Argentina as well, but they didn't lose a game the entire qualification, but did have 6 draws. I also didn't watch them play either...

Pot 1 (and a couple in pot 2) are the WC favorites to win it, except Qatar. But even Qatar at home won't be a cakewalk… avoiding nevertheless Brazil first and then France, and Spain would be nice... Finishing 3rd in CONCACAF does not justify too much optimism, but fortunately we're in pot 2. I hope for favorable draws from pot C or even D tomorrow to feel better about advancement. The relatively weaker ones in pot C would be Tunisia, Morocco and Iran, wouldn't mind facing any one of them. As for "easy" pot D we'd rather avoid Cameroon or Ghana and we will by default if we'll have already drawn with Tunisia or Morocco from pot C (two birds in one stone). No game will be easy anyway, that's a given. It will be three finals to hopefully win one and tie one at least to advance. Starting with a win will be huge to set the tone and positive atmosphere, take some of the pressure off for the next two. So the other very important part of the draw imo will be the opponent sequence, to play the "easier" team in game one (ideally one of New Zealand, UAB, Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia or Iran). And we can't draw with another team from CONCACAF ….

So now we know (sorta) who's in our group: England, Iran and one of either Scotland, Ukraine or Wales.

We're unlikely to beat England but I see no reason why we can't finish ahead of Iran and whoever the 4th team ends up being. And even a draw against England isn't out of the question, strange things happen in World Cups. See 2010 when we drew with them in the opener and ended up winning the group.
