Unless it includes getting rid of playoffs and instituting relegation/promotion, color me not interested.

Last night's game was not an MLS game. It was the US Open Cup, run by US Soccer. They have issues too, running their final on the opening night of the UCL and in conflict with the CONCACAF CL.

yes, but 2 mls teams faced off head to head in a competition that started last may. your right though, US soccer failed us last night with lack of TV exposure for the game and the night selected for the final.

And here's the new logo! www.mlssoccer.com/NEXTThoughts? It's very minimalist and kinda bland, but i think an improvement over the previous one. Not groundbreaking or cool but not embarrassing either.

Anyway to add a poll to this thread? Since I didn't start thread, it doesn't look like I can add it.
IMO, it is a slight improvement, but I was hoping for something a bit cooler. Also, not sure I really like the "first half/second half" concept, unless I am missing something, and I really don't like the way the line starts outside the perimeter.

The poll - What are you really asking - Do you like the NEW MLS Logo or the OLD MLS Logo?

Thanks for the clarification.. :-)
So my 2 cents - the new one is cleaner, more professional looking and more up-to-date than the old one, but that silly dangling thing on the bottom left is what? Not to mention the empty white space is distracting - like someone forgot something.
That's just my opinion.

I would vote if there was a "Don't care" option.

OK - I retract the "distracting white part" based on images I have just seen around on-line (and above) where it is replaced with the primary color for the participating team. But I still don't understand the "kickstand."

At first glance, not a masterpiece. However, it will grow on me, I can tell. It is simple enough to hold sway in the World of other crests and logos. US Soccer is on a trajectory from all intentions, uttered by the folks that lead, to be among the best in the world. I checked out the meaning of the elements within the crest. Was interested to learn that the SLASH refers to soccer's speed and energy. Ok. My opinion is that logos should be minimally didactic, and if they stimulate discussion, they have succeeded, somewhat. It is, I agree remarkably bland and perhaps intentionally so. But in the composition of the several elements, they become an object of contemplation. see below, from www.mlssoccer.com/NEXTWORDMARK: MLS stands for Major League Soccer. SLASH: The slash refers to soccer’s speed and energy. The slash begins outside the perimeter and drives upward at a 45-degree angle to illustrate both the nonstop nature of our game and the rising trajectory of our league. It bisects the crest to create a “first half” and “second half.” STARS: The three stars represent the pillars of our brand: For Club, For Country, For Community. PERIMETER: The perimeter represents the lines that mark off the field of play. FIRST HALF AND SECOND HALF: The first half contains MLS and the three stars. The second half is an open white space that brings you in and out of the MLS world.

reinalocuranow we know....lol SLASH: The slash refers to soccer’s speed and energy. It bisects the crest to create a “first half” and “second half.” --------------------------------------------------- Im on the fence about the new logo...its new and nice....but I didn't dislike the one before, don't really understand the need for a new one? Why mess with it, sometimes old is good :-) and if the white portion of it is going to change depending on the team, what do you do at games 1/2 and 1/2? And by changing the colors all the time, Im not sure I like that either, you don't see any other league in the world changing their logos like that.

To me the slash looks like a sword in front of the shield.
MLS seriously has bigger fish to fry. Start with a more transparent DP process. Continue with an acknowledgement of the other pro leagues, and allow teams to grow and join MLS. Teams like Rochester Rhinos have a history and fan base. That organization deserves to join MLS far more (my opinion) than Arthur Blank does.
