Sounds like there are multiple truths. Not everyone processes events and feelings uniformly. I don’t know much about Fugees aside from their soccer team in GA soccer acqdemy about ten years back - and subsequently learning a little about the community and the mission.
I hope Luma will address the article with honesty and empathy. She seems like a hero but even heroes can have faults.

I know several former fugees players. There aren't multiple truths. every single player I know has validated the accusations against Luma. she is far from a hero. I'm not sure how taping a child's mouth shut is just a "fault"? Please read the comments. most "positive" comments are from the same family that allows Luma to stay with them when she is in ATL. Former employees & students are co-signing this article. Refugee players are taken advantage of for their skills and left to deal with coaches like this on their own. The sentiment behind fugees is wonderful and should be continued but she has to go for it to thrive. Some more info on Fugees for anyone reading the thread: Players (information is from personal conversations not the article) were expelled from school for attending any other camps over the summer if it interfered with Fugees camps.Students were forced to stand & read their grades to the entire class; failing students had to remain standing and then were lectured (yelled at) on front of the class afterwards. Players were not allowed to compete with outside clubs and were forced to play at the rec level. |

I do not know the ins and outs of the organization.
