We all know the legendary Becky retired a year ago, and Tony Amato was hired as a replacement May 2021. Not even a year later, he's out....

17 players have exited the program under his leadership with 4 I read having eligibility remaining, that just flat out quit.
(remember Florida a season ago also had issues with the women's basketball coach, who was also removed prior to this season)

keep in mind, they have won national titles in 3 of the 4 of these sports.

Personally, never liked the Amato hire - felt they should have picked an assistant from a top soccer school.

I think some of the coaches try to be Bear Bryant, especially when they are newly hired and want to come in and make waves. They need to understand that this is college and sport is not the only thing these kids have going on. College kids need rest and relaxation in addition to discipline. Appears this guy was another on the heap of not understanding the environment he bought into.

I hear about some of the ATL HS coaches doing the same. At our school the new volleyball and girls basketball coaches are running varsity and JV players out in droves. Its too strict, too much abuse, too intense. Its a high school sport...and its not big-league football...chill out...

You can only push kids that are in sports where huge payouts are possible like pro football, basketball, baseball, etc… While it can happen in soccer, it’s much less likely and those players may be less likely to suffer poor treatment.
