Figured I would start a separate thread from the general tryouts thread to see if anyone had any info/opinions on various ID camps that have already happened. I know that some clubs have started already.
I saw 2010 AFU age group so far. Pretty good quality of players there. Mostly AFU kids but a few from Ambush and Tophat. Not sure about other clubs. A couple of VERY strong keepers.
Anyone else have info for anything they have seen?

The AFU U15 & U14 girls had several from outside of the club… particularly GSA. Looks like some of the GSA girls might be following or wanting to be on the new ECNL coaches team that came from GSA. Will be interesting as to how the old many AFU ECNL teams remain in tact.

Surprised at the number of boys who showed up at the UFA camp last Sunday. Still have no idea how they evaluate as their were probably 60 kids out there without numbers (both inside and outside club). Not sure I totally understand the point of it quite frankly. Coaches are walking around with clipboards, but there is no way to know who anyone is unless they personally know them...

She has trained with them already. But they won't give a commitment to her until they see what happens at tryouts and they want two keepers for the top team. They have two good keepers already so they are not desperate, but I thought it was odd that they wanted to wait that long because other clubs won't. |

AFU 07G group last night was pretty large - most of the new girls that I could see wore grey t-shirts to blend in with the existing AFU players. Only a few of them wore their current club's practice gear. Will be interesting to see how they form the 07G ECNL/ECRL teams this year with Mirza taking over the ECNL team from Brad Mitchum, who left for SSA.

AFU 05G looked small compared to the 07G right before.
Mirza was very nice and told the 07 girls AFU will have an E64 team including ECNL/ECRL players. Lots of GSA players a couple Concorde and SSA too. I am amazed at how they pick keepers. They all did a great job. Coaches had at least 4 to choose from.

I am really interested to see what this Elite 64 league will be. Concorde and AFU are pooling players from ECNL and ECRL. UFA is making it the top team at Norcross. The SE Group is made up of teams from NC, SC, GA, AL, FL and for boys, TN. For the boys, it looks like the clubs are AFC Lightning, Charlotte SA, Concorde, IMG, Jacksonville FC, SSA, UFA, and NCFC. For the girls, it looks like the clubs are AFU, Charlotte SA, UFA, NCFC, Team Boca, plus 3 clubs that I either don't recognize or have not been named. |

Congrats to the state champ! I don't think that she was on the winning side of the game. Read that wrong. It's a big feat to make it to the finals. Looked like a very tight game. Hope she is doing well... |

AFU IDs were well run. Multiple coaches on each field... players checked in and given numbers... coaches actually watching, taking notes of players and speaking with players they were interested in. Good communication afterward. Why this isn't the norm is beyond comprehension - and we parents continue to go along with it (but, really, what can you do?).

He promotes his players with video clips and comments. He compliments the opponents too. He seems to make a lot of sense when speaking on topics. Seems like he is a good one. |

One good thing about the UFA ID camp from those not looking at ECNL was that it confirmed the ECRL coach (which I had 99% confidence that I knew already) and for those who might not make the cut they even told you who the third team coach was and confirmed that SCCL is pro/rel. So at least some additional information was also gained.
