I don't know if I would ever classify Liberty as the Team to Beat 😆 This was about 6 or 7 years ago. They had a really good U-10 team (07s/08s/06s now) on the girls academy side. Only ever saw them during tournaments. Lasted for about a year or two and then they dropped off the map.

They are within a decent driving distance to GSA or RYSA so UFA seems to have made a good move. There are some girls that started out with them (Academy) that are on top teams now elsewhere.

The Byrds who own BYSA/Liberty can now send players to Ufa instead of Gsa I guess.
Plus they can finally get out of GA Soccer and into SCCL. Just sucks because that old farm they use for fields is only the second worst thing out there, the first is their “Refs”.

I remember playing them in tournaments at u10 as well. It’s been a few years, but they were definitely a strong team in the second bracket. We were always happy to get a win. They weren’t one of the powerhouse teams, but they were good competition.

Are there many small clubs left in Georgia that aren’t affiliated? Even clubs in South Georgia are part of SSA or UFA.

I don’t consider AFC small (they have several satellite locations) but the rest I would probably agree with. Georgia Storm is still out there, too. I thought Ambush merged? Glad to hear they are still around

They weren’t one of the powerhouse teams, but they were good competition. 04s and 05s. That team turned out to be pretty loaded, with at least six moving to D1 in soccer in the next couple years, and a couple others going in other sports. They could compete with anyone and could have played well up to a 9v9 level before lack of depth would have stopped them. Top level talent was equal to huge clubs but the drop off was immense after that. Of course, the natural progression is all those girls moved to my ch bigger clubs like Concorde/Tophat/GSA. Source: one of them is my daughter.

For what it's worth, I currently coach at UFA Loganville (formerly Liberty). I came to the club a few years ago as they were in a bit of rebuilding phase. I didn't have a dog in the horse. I was new to the area and their fields are 5 minutes from my house so I gave them a shot and it's been a good club. Competitively, most teams are in the middle or the top of their divisions in Georgia Soccer. I can speak for my 05 Girl team. We always finish in the Top 3 in our division and generally champions or finalist in our tournaments. My youngest daughter plays on their 09 team and there hasn't been a season they haven't won a tournament. It's a smaller club with a family fill. I think we balance out some of the larger clubs because we have one team in an age group whereas the larger clubs will have multiple teams in an age group. We've played SCCL teams like Concorde, Georgia Rush, RYSA, MOBA, InterAtlanta and have generally won or held our own. It's a competitive club nestled in Loganville. We have boy and girl teams in most age groups. If you are looking, give us a shot.
