Was thinking of taking my kids to one of Eddie Johnson's labs over the summer. Any one trained with him before?
He seemed a bit harsh to his kids over the Instagram live I just watched. Called a 10-year old a "weak ass" several times. I'm hoping this isn't the norm or I misheard. Would love to hear any personal experiences.
TIA

TIA At this point, I don’t recommend making the trip and expense. We love Eddie. Our kid has been down to train with him many times. He has come to Atlanta and trained our kid here. That was then. Today he is very busy and does not work from a schedule or have administrative assistance. The last two times our player went to Orlando, they had planned 2 daily sessions for 5 days and he cancelled several of them with no explanation. Several times we showed up at the training center and waited for a hour before he called to say he was cancelling. Keep in mind there were 15-30 kids sitting there also. If you’re local to Orlando, maybe it’s still worth the risk. But spending a couple thousand dollars on flights or gas, hotel, food is not worth the session or two you’ll get in. All we ask is that if you don’t heed this warning that you come back and share your similar experience. 😏 Again, we love Eddie, he just needs help and he won’t take it.

We were planning on scheduling something over the summer or when my kids have tournaments in Florida. We will take it in another direction though, thanks again.

He’s the Eddie Johnson of Atlanta. Just better and more organized. You can reach him at lukecsexton@gmail.com or (865) 283-9709.

Does he have a website? I don’t think so. Luke has been training Eddie Johnson’s kids in Orlando and around the country for 3 years and recently moved to Atlanta. Call or email him. He’ll do an initial assessment session which will give you a chance to see how he works. He’s a multidimensional trainer in a world of simple, one dimensional trainers. Hope that helps!

Thanks Luke for that answer. What are your rates? Lol, your passive aggressiveness here is amusing. Who cares if it is this coach they’re talking about. I respect the hustle. Thanks, I was trying to be funny. I am hustling to be a comedian so I appreciate the respect.

I am hustling to be a comedian so I appreciate the respect. Everyone's hustle is great! 😂 On a more serious note: If your kid is interested in training with him I would suggest emailing him because he needs info from you. He asked for game film, ratings for certain skills, recruiting info, diet info, work ethic etc. Seems interested in my kid as a whole. I have a feeling his rates fluctuate based on what he thinks your kid needs the most (e.g. strength training vs. technical training). Not sure yet.

My kid simply played soccer at a high level and received multiple D1 offers during COVID recruiting. My player was a student of the game and trained with Eddie, Luke, and Justin in Orlando many times. Eddie also flew to Atlanta and trained my kid here. Luke has trained my kid numerous times. His rates do not fluctuate but he is selective about who he trains - primarily about their commitment to grow. Side note: I genuinely feel sorry for you and those closest to you who have to navigate around you. Really sad.

Maybe if you went back and re-read his comments you would see that he said that he was joking. Even if he wasn't, no need to be so condescending. I'd say definitely some irony in this side note. Your comment is definitely much sadder than his.

Curious if Eddie/Luke were helpful in that process?

TIA As long as you grovel and worship at his feet, he is a peach. Let me explain his "business model" for the Eddie Johnson Experience. He plucks already talented kids from top clubs. Teaches them his choreography around cones and takes the credit for it on Instagram. What he won't show you on Instagram is that he only nominally works with new kids in the afternoon group <50% of the time. For greater than 50% of the time, new players will stand around watching him throw F bombs at his morning group while he sits and watches OR they will be working with assistants. Eddie will finally mozie on over around 3:30-4pm shortly before it ends, do a couple symbolic gestures and call it a day. His methods are fine...spending 5 hours a day with the ball at your feet will make you a better player regardless. Personally, I see alot of burnout and over training in his kids' futures. But, save your money and time and get 3x the training elsewhere.

My daughter worked so hard I thought she was going to puke. That's a good thing, btw! He is so technically sound, and really pushes that on his players. They did drills over and over again until they were technically correct, and then did them again to perfect them. 10/10 trainer!

You do something enough, you'll see results BUT what does it matter if your kid is the same as other players ... how are they standing out?

That’s why a trainer who understands specifically what is needed for your player is so important. We know every trainer in the Atlanta region. The only two who take the time to know the player and develop player-specific training are Josh Villalobos in south Atlanta and Luke Sexton in North Atlanta.

Any player, on any level (yes, including the AU academy boys) will struggle in a first session with Luke. It’s a whole other level. Most haven’t seen anything like it. Really cool to watch.
