So long story short!
Congratulations to all, We made it to our 1 year anniversary (hence the annoying soccer balls!).
I want to thank everyone who has ever viewed, posted, or just stopped by.
We started this on whim, Sept 19 @ 11:53 a year ago. I just wanted to show "the other place" how easy it was to create a forum with modern software and required signing in. By the end of the day, we had 17 members! Many of the first 17 are still extremely active. But whether you were the first 17 or signed up yesterday, nobody will treat you any differently! You gain respect by username, and some of us rely on your experienced responses! We have shown we can embrace the new u6 coach and parent to the experienced parent with a child being recruited by the top schools in the country (or the experienced child them self).
Lets keep going strong. I try to keep the board as lively as I can but participate as a member vs an admin. Because of you all, the board honestly runs itself!! Many (most!) of you are much more savvy and knowledgeable than I!!
When I start a post, I think of 2 things, what is informative and what would stimulate dialogue. My goal is to post something that encourages folks to think and want to respond. I try my best to keep it Georgia Soccer related, but we all embrace that soccer is a Global sport. We have to post information on the national teams, european leagues, and about that MLS thingy here in the states.
I encourage folks to agree or disagree, just respond. some folks fear message boards, I embrace them. Its where you can get the true pulse of our georgia soccer community. yes, sometimes fringe, but that is life!
I never take anything personally, so please offer suggestions, awards ideas, and anything else you think that will help us. www.gasoccerforum.com is for us. Please continue to share our location with your soccer family.
So, for our 1 year anniversary, we will have a little contest. First person who starts a thread that becomes a "hot topic', ie flaming folder, will get to be "guest" moderator for the month of October. I honestly don't even care if you reply to your own threads, but it has to have substance, can't be "thanks", or yes, has to have substance. If the winner does not want the role, they can choose anyone else to fill their shoes.
Let the competition begin! Oh yea, the rules for a hot thread have changed. It was 15, I bumped it up to 30! maybe we don't' get there, but lets see. Do not let this stop you from responding to other folks.
