So my daughter just recently successfully navigated the recruiting life cycle. She is committed to a SEC school. Here is some advice for all the 2024s. I only have daughers so I dont know if this translates to boys.
1) Make sure you have your questions ready for the coaches. I recommened 5 to 6 standard questions that you ask every coach. 2) The initial phone call or email expresses the school is interested in your daughter. It is NOT a guarantee of a spot. Its like dating. Interview them and let them convince you to come. 3) Do NOT committ without seeing the financials in writting. (Many if not most schools are now giving 4 year offers) The financial numbers maybe different each year. 4) Dont turn down any phone calls. The more phone calls the better. Even if its for a school your player is not interested in, still take the phone call. 5) If you have not visited the campus, please do so ASAP. Do not commit without seeing the school in person 6) Make sure to check all email addresses your player has used since U13. We had one or two schools actually send an interest email to an old email address.
Lastly, June 15th is not the end all be all. Even though my daughter received calls and emails on June 15th. She is actually not attending any of the schools that had initial interest...
Enjoy the process and good luck!

Good advice from above. I wanted to add something based on completing the D1 process at a very successful Power 5 program and knowing dozens of girls who have played on similar college teams as well.
So, D1 soccer is very tough and gruelling. It is all consuming and virtually year round. They are recruited going to the football games, but if they get to go to 1 or 2 a season, that is alot. The coaches are paid to WIN, which is not necessarily consistent with the "student athlete" concept.
At the end of the day, PLEASE truly consider how much your daughter will play. To work your butt off day in and day out and then, not play is a much larger issue than your kid may realize. TRUST ME! I can tell you personal and observational stories of what a big deal it is. Maybe the best thing to do is go to a college game and watch the girls as they leave the field and when they come out of the shower. You can identify easily those who played and those who didn't. The usually sad faces of the bench kids are easy to identify as they go and greet their parents. I understand life is not fair, that there are only 11 slots on the field for 28 kids, etc., but I am telling you lack of playing time eats away at kids and diminishes their experience many times dramatically. Its also tough to watch as a parent. So, strongly weigh going to the Power 5 school and sitting on the bench v. going to a smaller or less successful school and playing. I know for a fact that virtually all of my daughters friends would have "rather played most of the time and lost versus sat on the bench and won." It's just the reality of life.
I wish every one the best as it is an exciting time.

Can't agree more with this post. My daughter chose one of the smaller D1 schools for that reason (she had opportunities at several higher level D1 schools as well) and she got to play in every game her freshman year including starting against UGA. Compared to some of her club team who played in 1 or 2 games for 15 to 20 min total for the year. She actually played more minutes against UGA than her three club teammates who went to UGA played all year. Now that being said they got smoked by UGA but she was on the field.

I have a teamless, injured but rehabbing rising U17G on my hands who can chat with D1 coaches as of today. We have a recovery schedule going and will be following up with schools this week in hopes of ECNL or GA guest playing and ID camp attending during the winter and spring. This will give us time to tighten up on SAT and making sure we complete her NCAA registration. Any advice in the meantime? Sorry to hear. I know a couple of injured players that still rostered with their previous team even though they couldn’t play. Best wishes and good luck to your player!

Sorry to hear. I know a couple of injured players that still rostered with their previous team even though they couldn’t play. Best wishes and good luck to your player! Made the mistake of being truthful when asked if we were trying out at other clubs ... led to daughter being replaced and released ... Really sorry to hear this. I know of 2022s who didnt committ until April of senior year. There is time! Focus on getting healthy. Even if you have to try to get on a lower team in ECNL/GA it is still worth it for one year. Get healthy, suppliment the training to ensure your player is improving. I am noticing that transfers are opening up late spots for seniors...

I'm sure many parents are burdened by competing interests in their minds about whether to be truthful or not when it comes to revealing your intentions during tryouts. "Props" for having that integrity... Integrity is great, but when it can potentially hurt the ones you love, it can be a bitter pill to swallow. I can definitely sympathize with you.

theathletic.com/news/ncaa-transformation-committee-expounds-on-transfer-window-implementation/CgFtPmNFWJoo/?source=twitterhqNCAA Transformation Committee expounds on transfer window implementation By Nicole Auerbach June 16, 2022Updated 3:18 PM EDT NCAA Transformation Committee expounds on transfer window implementation. The NCAA provided some clarity on Thursday as it publicized recommendations from the Transformation Committee, including the implementation of transfer windows, could be approved as soon as early August. Transfer windows will require that transferring athletes enter the portal during a specific time period in order to be immediately eligible to compete the following academic year. The idea is to provide clarity for both coaches and players around roster management, and administrators believe it will allow for more thought-out decision-making, instead of emotional choices based on a bad practice or an in-game benching. The concept has been put forth and socialized over the past few months by the Transformation Committee, which has been meeting weekly. The group is also recommending changes to the NCAA infractions process to allow for speedier investigations and outcomes. The Division I Board of Directors, which will review these recommendations at its June 30 meeting and, if the board supports them, it will then send them to the Division I Council for feedback during that group's July 20 meeting. The board's vote to approve the recommendations would then occur at its Aug. 3 meeting. The Transformation Committee said its next priorities will be student-athlete benefits and minimum requirements for Division I membership. "College sports continues to face many challenges, and we need to move quickly to update our rules and make infractions more efficient so we can focus our attention on Division I membership expectations and, most importantly, benefits for student-athletes," board chair J
