So new year, new wrinkle in the league. The Champions level supposedly will be open, for Fall, to the prior "Club" level teams. I have been told each club can put two teams in. Does anyone know the actual truth to that and whether Tennessee and Alabama will be in it again this year?

2022-2023 Season Updates The Southeastern Clubs Champions League (SCCL) is pleased to announce its plans for continued programming for the 2022-23 year. The SCCL was initially formed in 2018 to fill a void in the youth soccer landscape. Since its inception, the league has maintained its mission to continue to offer relevant, necessary programming for clubs in Metro Atlanta and its surrounding region. We are excited to offer the following updates to all SCCL member clubs: 1. The 12U-19U club-based division has been the pinnacle of the SCCL since the beginning. Beginning in the Fall of 2022, the 13U-19U club-based flights will feature promotion relegation extending the competitive atmosphere from “Premier 1” to “Champions League.”
Clubs with teams currently competing in the “club-based” division will retain their position in the newly named “Champions League,” and going forward the promotion/relegation criteria will be applied seasonally as it has been in the Premier divisions (click here for the promotion/relegation criteria). Should a club feel that their current “club-based” team would be better suited in a Premier division, the club can request to be moved into a lower division.
2022-23 Hierarchy of Divisions
Champions League Premier 1 Premier 2 Premier 3 Premier 4 Premier 5 2. With the change to the club-based model at the 13U-19U age groups, the 12U division will now allow for more SCCL Member clubs to participate at the 12U age group. The only criteria for participation will be:
The teams must be from an existing SCCL member club A club must enter two teams for each gender it would like to participate in. For example, if Club A would like to participate in the Girls 12U division, they will be required to declare two teams (with a 26 player max roster for each team): One in the top flight, and one in the second flight. Clubs do not have to enter the 12U division in BOTH genders if it does not fit their club’s needs.

Sounds a lot like the old state leagues, minus the ability to promote a team into regional or national play on sporting merit. Under new management.. so profits have been redirected. And more expensive.
It’s like Microsoft software. Minimal substantive changes but all the old features are moved around.

Thanks. I read that. I am curious about U13. I have been told 2 teams. For example, UFA Forsyth planning to have their third U13 team and their top U12 team. Also are the out of state teams planning to stay in the league. Seems like every year the out of state teams change. CESA left. Vestavia Hills left. Just curious about Tennessee SC and Alabama FC. Maybe someone knows?

Thank you. I did not think to look at their tryout pages on social media. My kids would be shocked at my lack of investigative skills. 😂

It is very confusing especially with so many different leagues per club! Different clubs have different pathways. Which club are you at?
