this tweet made me thing of the ODP discussion about defenders and making ODP.
interesting point though, i don't follow mls close enough to really know the truth though!
but for some reason this past world cup was an eye opener for me. when you actually sit down and watch that many games over a 3 week period you start to realize - man the ball sure is at the defenders feet a lot during games. they play such a critical role with starting possession and it all starts with your back line. You have to be calm on the ball for sure, and have just as much confidence with your feet as a striker. but remember, a defender makes one mistake and the entire world sees it. midfielders/forwards can give the ball away all day, make an errant pass, play the ball out of bounds etc, and its just considered a normal play......
