They lied about the "equal" pay issue and now are being supplemented by Men's team revenue to make their pay "equal" dollar for dollar when their team does not bring in such money. The deal is basically the equivalent of WNBA players getting paid the same as NBA players which we all know will never happen. Kudos for them pulling the wool over everyone's eyes in some woke utopian socialistic contract.

Does representing your country on a national team have to be a zero sum game? Obviously the federation has decided not.

If the promo is accurate it appears to be the struggle for womens players to be treated as human beings. I think there were many instances of inappropriate (coaches/staff/league) behavior that got glossed over in the league. Seems interesting to me, but everyone gets to make their own choice. www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/34181044

The pay thing was not discrimination PERIOD. For them to act like it was downplays and soils real abuse issues.

Let's be honest. Unless you have a friend or family member playing, the market for women's professional soccer is exceptionally small. And I love watching my family and friends play.

Turned on the womens game tonight briefly. Uruguay vs Peru was on. Hardly anyone in attendance. Watched about 5 minutes. Soccer was poor at best. 6 - 0 final for Uruguay. Be interested to see how many tuned in.

Real question is how many people watch US versus Canada last night? With it being on Paramount plus, I bet it was dozens I watched the first half because it was on late and I was too tired to make it thru. But I bought Paramount + a long time ago. It was a great first half. Back and forth with a lot of chances. I watch a lot of women's soccer tho. My family has met several of the players personally from prior camps my kids have gone to. Kailen Sheridan (from Clemson, plays for San Diego Wave and Canada) is an awesome person. My oldest loves her. I don't know what the TV market looks like for women's soccer but there are several places around the world that are pulling in some pretty big crowds.

I was just in Sweden & womens soccer there is really popular. The womens European championship was shown on the free national TV channels. Even my 80 year old parents watch it. My daughter is a dual Swedish & US citizen so I guess she can decide later which team she’ll play for…

My daughter is a dual Swedish & US citizen so I guess she can decide later which team she’ll play for… Lots of the women's Euro games are on ESPN or ESPN 2. If not those then ESPN +. I have watched 6 or 7 of them. Great games.

We enjoyed the matches and watched the US vs Canada match last night with my daughter and a couple of her teammates… we’ll worth the $4.99 investment as family entertainment. I’ll make the monthly trade for paid live sports over dated Netflix content at triple the price all day!

Did anyone besides me see England's dominant performance yesterday? I only got to watch the entire second half live, but they played some very pretty soccer.
As I saw one person on Twitter remark...UNC 2 Sweden 0
So talk about how our college system is falling behind? Maybe. Did not look like it after watching England

Did not look like it after watching England I didn't watch it and I don't doubt England was good. Nice for them! But apparently the Swedes had not been careful about covid and a few players had it and/or had barely recovered. I saw something on twitter that one of the defenders played like a "cone". I.e. she was just standing still and let people go around her.

I wonder if the Swedish players were to blame or their federation...Hmmm.
