Just crazy the difference with MLS and the sports they try to mimic. I know many hate the draft concept, but one thing is for sure these kids are going to get paid, unlike MLS homegrown players who sign for $75-$100K. This is the predetermined MLS slot values for bonus for each MLS pick, they can be paid less, but his this is what MLB is allowed to give the prospects as bonus. And keep in mind these kids are prospects: www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/mlb-draft-slot-values-money-2022/ocmzq7kl6b204bgaa2aix6oaPick | Team | Value | | | | | | | |

MLS pays minor league wages without the major league bonus.
The average player salary for an MLB minor league player was $6,000 in Single-A, $9,350 in Double-A and $15,000 in Triple-A in 2018.

to add, i watched a video not to long ago, where the players have to pay daily/weekly the club house "guy" -- both home and away. This guy is apparently in charge of food, washes their uniforms etc. Same is apparently true in the MLB, the clubs don't pay for meals served in the locker room, the players pay out of pocket and tip the clubby. (could be wrong...)
But he was saying the food in the minors was usually terrible, PBJs etc.

I somewhat remember when Michael Jordan played minor league baseball and immediately upgraded a bunch of stuff like the team bus out of his own pocket.
I also listened to Erick Erickson recently on the radio when he compared the new LIV tour (pro golf funded by the Saudi’s) in the context of how few PGA pros actually make big bucks while many of them starve - justifying the need for a competing tour. The points were not about the funding - only about the likelihood of the best 2-400 players getting paid like NFL/NBA/MLB players do. It’s not even close - golf is HARD to get paid. But at least they have promotion and relegation in PGA tour.
