So my sister and I were talking and are trying to figure out something so hopefully someone here can answer this. My niece is playing u15 athena this fall and would like to play this spring still but her current club doesn't offer a u16 girls Rec team. Just a coed in house league. So could she register to play at another club and play rec this spring?

Most clubs donot offer U15 and above because they are playing for high school teams in the spring, boys and girls. You could go rec at your club if offered, and if not trying out for school team.

It should be fine for her to play with a U16 rec team if there's another club nearby with a team. Here's the GA Soccer rule: 310.3c Any select program player whose true playing age group is U15 and above and whose primary team does not participate in a spring season may dual roster with a recreational team, either with its member affiliate or with another member affiliate, that is participating in the spring season. I see your GFC logo. If she's pretty close to GFC, other options nearby that might work are GSA, Dacula or TYSA. They all had U16 rec teams last spring. Here's where you can find the Rec schedules for last spring: gs-riasspr14.sportsaffinity.com/tour/public/info/accepted_list.asp?sessionguid=&tournamentguid=FB607AA6-3AF3-407C-9953-23C1F47C44ED&show=girls

Looks like GFC had a couple U16 rec teams last spring too.

RIAS is just for one season at a time. 310.1a Once a recreational player has registered with a member affiliate, the player is bound to that member affiliate for the specified playing season (fall or spring).

Clubs typically don't have enough teams in older rec age groups to keep all of their games in house. Even the biggest clubs tend to have their older teams play other clubs. RIAS is Rec Inter-Affiliate Scheduling where games are scheduled and posted on the GA Soccer site similar to the select team scheduling.

She's at Bluesprings liberty. It's kinda a tough thing because my sister has her two boys at GFC with me, and the two girls at BlueSprings. So by that rule BYSA can't tell her she can't play this spring, right?

Try out for school team, that's where most kids are in the spring. Is she not interested?

Especially as freshmen. Most of our girls at GFC Playing Athena are in the same boat too if they go to Brookwood or parkview too.

She's free to go wherever she likes in the spring.

Try out for school team, that's where most kids are in the spring. Is she not interested? Depending on the school that's easier said than done - especially if the team is young and there are a lot of soccer playing freshman girls - even more so if the incoming players are playing on high level teams. The other option is to put together a rec team on your own and just play tournaments - even 3v3 or 5v5 tournaments if you can't get a full team together. Then hopefully the club team will come back together in March or so to start training for an end of year tournament - State Cup, Presidents Cup, etc. I do wish there was a spring season for the older ages - considering there are Athena B-E level teams from U15 up, seems Clubs and GA Soccer would want the revenue for a spring season since every kid won't make a high school team.
