On paper, this sounds like a great hire. Only time will tell if he can replicate the RSL and Sounders' success models. Guess what? He's also acquainted with our current head coach. My hope is that he can build the academy, AU2 and shore up the first team to make us contenders again. Regardless, I'm just glad Boca Boca has been relegated to the back back. I would have preferred they show him the door, but...

Apparently a truckload of money was exchanged. Why else would he make a parallel move from a more successful team?

Apparently a truckload of money was exchanged. Why else would he make a parallel move from a more successful team? Not a parallel move. He has much more control of the entire organization in Atlanta. He is in charge of Atlanta United, Atlanta United 2, and the academy. Hopefully, they will all be integrated (finally).

Plus he has a bigger checkbook to play with.

Well everyone knows what he should do first Fire ______________ The favorite and obvious response would be CB-CB-CB. When you think about it, he's already replaced CB from being in charge of AU2 and the Academy. However, I think the next, first thing he has to do, is a top to bottom evaluation of the first team, AU2 and the Academy and all the auxiliary personnel involved as a whole. This way, he gets to see if they align with his goals. The world already knows everything there is to know about the first team, so I won't waste time beating that dead horse. Plus I'm not versed in the language of TAM/GAM. In regards to AU2 and the Academy, there is much work to be done. I would start with replacing or re-interviewing all the coaching staff for the 2s and the Academy. I am not confident in all the current coaches as their expertise is linear. It's not just about coaching and yelling like a banshee from the sidelines. They have to know how to be wholistic in their approach to creating professionals, who also understand the ins/outs of what it takes to play for the first team, but, also any professional club around the world (Ajax Model). Need personnel who have a relationship with the YNT to push more lads on to National Teams. I would re-instate the retain/release + tryouts model. Stops some of the current players from being complacent, while, also giving late bloomers or overlooked local lads a real chance. Can't believe I'm saying this, but AU needs to expand on marketing players not on the first team. Get the word out there about the young guns and possible breakout stars on the horizon. With so much veiled secrecy, why not launch something like "A Day in the life of an Academy Player" series. Track and showcase those who go on to college, like local clubs do, to keep them connected back to the club. Create a mentorship program that connects the future players with the current first team players and another that connects under 10 boys with current Academy players. Set a defined pathway (TPDL) for players from the 17s and up to AU2 to the first team. When a young player breaks on to the first team, train, develop and invest in that player to succeed. It is a win-win if he gets transferred to a better league or becomes a Stallworth for your first team. Finally, do more international tourneys and events. There is nothing like gauging where you are against other more established teams to realize where you are in the scheme of things...
