Interesting info, for the first time that I have seen, the stats were sent out to attendees of the ECNL TN showcase. 89 colleges attended with around 27% being D1, 18% D2 and the rest D3, NAIA and Juco. I really had expected much higher to be D1. It also shows how many times the players profile was viewed. Someone mentioned on another thread that with technology this data should be readily available and it looks like things are headed in that direction.

Pretty sure those numbers aren't right. At one of the games my daughter played there were well over 30 D1 coaches. Just at that one game.

Those numbers are not accurate. We received an email with the same numbers as you but our own onsite tracking (handing out brochures and writing down schools) showed over 120 schools with probably 90% plus D1.

Interesting they would send that out and under-promote the D1 schools. Maybe coaches came that were not officially registered with the event?

We got the same email. The TGS stats that were sent out were a joke. They said that 0 scouts went to our games. We were happy with the turn out of scouts. For the three day weekend we counted well in excess a hundred coaches. Further, most of them were from D1 programs.
Our team is a U17 team with girls that are a mix of sophomores and juniors. This year’s turnout was very different from last year as a U16 team with freshmen, and sophomores.

Also, make sure that the parents that are handing out team brochures, also get the individual coach’s name along with the school name so that your follow-up emails are more personalized.

Any recs for when you didn't get the coach's name? We got some but not all. Just send to HC or the coaches listed on the event page? TIA

TIA I don’t think there’s much you can do but use all available coach email addresses for the school, and start with something like: “Thank you Coach for stopping by to watch our game at the Tennessee ECNL Showcase <fill in appropriate event> Saturday. We went 2-0-1 for the weekend with three clean sheets <fill in accomplishments/positive vibe here>. I’m very interested in the <major> program at…” blah blah blah…. I leave the writing up to my daughter and wife. Thats what we’ll need to do also. We don’t have the coach’s name for about half of the schools that watched our games. 🤦🏻♂️ I’m not naming names here. Hey, I was on video detail.

Did you point the camera at the coaches? Lots (all?) of them have photos on websites that’ll help you connect the dots for mystery staff members. Unfortunately, it’s not that kind of camera. The big camera that is always running is the Veo 2. That camera records the entire pitch and everything around it. Faces or school logos aren’t recognizable. I appreciate the parents who volunteered to work during the three games. Over the season, everyone has given up a lot of money and time. I’m keenly aware that handing out brochures and recording schools takes away from enjoying the game and can make you miss key plays that your kid might make. I did it during last year’s three showcases. Meanwhile, most parents stand together clutching hot drinks, making observations, and watching their kid play the beautiful game. And they should. Hell, enjoy it! That in many ways is the biggest, most “real” payoff they’re going to realize out of it all. I get both sides of what people are willing to do out there. I’ll just need to explain better the case for collecting names in Florida and Texas to the parents willing to help with brochures.

The stats are from the app. It only tracks schools who use the app. Many, maybe erasmus Zadar, don’t. Here is the link to the schools who registered with TGS to attend the event. Again, many schools attended without registering. eldfall-chronicles.com/Thank you! W/E 12/10 +10 YTD -518

Costs about 1000 per month per kid. Most kids even if they play D1 don't get scholarships and the best way to mitigate the bleeding is to get a credit card with benefits at the hotel you are forced to stay at. However does look good on your resume because you could stick to activity like being an Eagle scout

After having two in soccer and one in lacrosse with all three playing in college (and only one getting money) I have come to the realization that you are going to open your wallet and dump dollars out for playing club based sports. Trying to justify it or rationalize it will never work. Just enjoy the experience of watching them grow.

When we moved to Atlanta in 2010 soccer was how we built many friendships - for those I’m thankful. But overall I find club soccer to be fairly toxic. From parent sideline behavior to injuries to XYZ - I don’t regret the experience but wouldn’t do it all over again if given the opportunity.
On the contrary - youngest just finished his final season in HS band. Started in 6th grade / learned multiple instruments, plays multiple styles… “found his people” and intends to continue to play in college while studying something employable. Music program was also not cheap but a LOT more positive in every way. I had no idea going into this (wife and I never played music) but they manage to compete and genuinely support other artists. 99% positive would definitely recommend.

I glad I am not the only one who questions whether it was worth it. I always come back to it was but you are right some of the stuff you see or are part of just makes you shake your head. Even when they get to college and play it doesn't really stop the bs. Not to mention the toll it takes on the kids physically (oldest one hasn't played much in last year or so due to injury that she will probably have to deal her whole life with). All that being said I come back to the goods which include teaching accountability and discipline, learning about disappointment rather than the first disappointment for the first time in their mid 20s, etc.

We could afford it financially and never really blinked - a lot of other and potentially better kids were left out for that alone. I think that sucks but that’s the club soccer and US soccer way. Competition is good - it teaches you to win and lose and certainly builds character. But too much of the learning comes from seeing people act like total idiots (on the field and on the edge of the field) and that’s the part that I find no value in.

The "worth it" goes more to everything but the dollars. As I said in one of my previous posts I don't think it can be justified or rationalized either by the individual or the overall soccer community. We as you are fortunate enough to be able to afford these expenses, but as you said I know many who were way more talent than my kids that haven't and will get left by the way side. As for the rest as a manager of a fairly large group the idiot thing is getting more and more prevalent in life and one of the things that I do think has helped my girls is having to deal with it in a team setting which is what more jobs in life are close too. And with the idiots starting to be more a part of that how to deal to some degree or at least not let it effect them (as all three of my kids have become head strong against some of this idiocy) will be a life skill.
