Not sure if it is the same for boys and girls ecnl, but a friend was asking if the boys ecnl showcase games help with standings for playoffs.
I honestly don’t know the answer. He thought they are some how used in their post season standings algorithm: from the sense they can help you but not hurt you.
I also assume if teams have identical points per game results, they might incorporate showcase results for wildcard qualification for playoffs? Just guessing here.

They’ve updated the rules so showcase games have more meaning than just a “showcase”. Your results from those games help your seeding in playoffs. Also, your season record plus showcase record can get you a playoff invite if you’re on the bubble just outside of automatic qualification.

I also assume if teams have identical points per game results, they might incorporate showcase results for wildcard qualification for playoffs? Just guessing here. Your friend is correct. In the past the games at ECNL National Showcase Events (Greer and Sanford for most Atlanta teams) have impacted the seeding for playoffs and/or who gets the wildcards. The top "x" number of teams from a conference qualify for nationals but the seeding is done using all ECNL games played, including ECNL showcase games. So, for example, CF Platinum 07s sit #1 in the Southeast with 56 points on 24 regular season games for 2.33 PPG. If they tied all six of their Showcase games they would have 62 points on 30 games for 2.07 PPG and that would dictate how they are "supposed" to be seeded. ECNL still has some discretion over seeding...but now who qualifies. Historically you could see this in real time as the conference standings have a dropdown to show Champions League Seedings but right now that page is blank.

Well maybe that explains why a certain Atl club revised their original showcase schedule to switch out a highly ranked national program to add a middle tier team instead.

Clubs don't make the schedules for the ECNL Showcases. The league does that...and usually has teams playing similarly ranked teams from other conference so that the best team in the Southeast doesn't get paired up with the bottom team in the Mid Atlantic. Last thing they want is blowouts as college coaches can't really assess players if the game isn't competitive.

Agreed clubs don’t typically make schedules, but one club in Atl was scheduled to play Pipeline in early pairings as shown on ECNL schedule and then it wasn’t. Same club that delayed a Sat game against AtlFire so the club would have a rest day before playing an opponent who did have a Sat match. Same club who has an ECNL board member. Does make you wonder…

My guess is the poster is talking about GSA as it is discussed a lot here how they have a spot on the ECNL BoD and prevent other clubs in the area from ever getting invited to the league.

Crazy thing is it is almost impossible to find out who is on the ECNL Board of Directors. The currently available 501(c)(3) filings are from 2019. I have seen the directors listed anywhere else other than on those out of date filings.

In full context of the thread- seems like it’s not GSA. I’m pretty sure the poster is talking about Concorde and KK.

In the 2019 filings, GSA had a director on the ECNL Board of Directors (Girls) but in those same 2019, I do not see where they had a director on the Boys ECNL Board of Directors.

It was 07 CF Platinum boys who rescheduled a match so they wouldn’t have to play on the Saturday before playing NASA on Sunday (NASA NTH played the CF Prem team that Sat). I ve heard same story re change in schedule for ECNL showcase.

I ve heard same story re change in schedule for ECNL showcase. I do not understand why people give in to them and other clubs. Should’ve been told stick with the scheduled time or take the forfeit.
