Dull game as SJ elected to sit on their early lead and fake injuries all night. Sweet justice since two AU goals came in (fake) injury time. Lot of empty seats but still a pretty big crowd. Makes no sense but it looked like several guys deliberately didn’t try to find Jackson up top. I was hoping he could become a poacher.

The first step in bringing more energy to the building is showing they can win. Mission accomplished. Should be a fun season. |

Empty seats could be due to a lot of folks hanging out in club areas most of the game. I splurged for Harrah's club and didn't realize those leather seats are actually really smaller than the normal seats in the 100 level. We found them uncomfortable and got lucky and found some seats overlooking the window to the field so we just sat and stood there most of the night. I'm sure the 300 level was not full, but that is what happens when you open the 300 level except for big named teams or rival games. |

It's still concerning, a win is a win, but last season San Jose was the 2nd worst team in the league who conceded 69 goals during the season (2nd worse in the league also).

Well this much is certain, I have seen U12 kids with better techniques with a PK than Araujo did on his. That was embarrassing. I was embarrassed for him.

Finally found some full game highlights (didn't see any when I searched yesterday). I didn't think the PK technique was that bad, personally. What was embarrassing about it? Just that he didn't even put it on frame when the keeper dove early the wrong way? I hate the "stop in the middle" technique, but so many people do it now I've almost gotten numb to it. And many do it a lot more drastically than Araujo did on Saturday. |

I need to catch a video replay of it to see if maybe I'm just being hard on him or not. Edit: after seeing it on replay it wasn't as bad as I thought it was from my view in the stadium. That being said a lower delivery probably would have been better there, less likely to get away from him like that one did. |

They did look rather uncomfortable there. Hopefully that will change. San Jose looked desperate falling all over the place. |
