Does anyone have any input on Coach Bruce Wade from Nasa? My thoughts. I currently do not have a child that plays for Bruce. He is an honest individual who has never lied to my family, quit on our team, or bullied a player. He has coached teams that have been pretty successful. He has probably top ten most attractive soccer head coaching gigs for georgia high school - tons of talent, wealthy school, same area as his club. I think his high school gig is the one thing that would differentiate him from other coaches at NASA. Whether other coaches are probably trying to influence/work DT or RT for a top team, my guess is Bruce could care less. I would put him in a similar bucket to BB, also a former Walton coach who I believe loves coaching but at this point in his life doesn't care about all the drama that exists on teams. Is he the most impactful coach my son has ever had? No. But he is better than most coaches you could play for, and he is a good person.

My son had Bruce as his coach for several years and I can say that he helped him develop not only on the field but off it as well. During Covid he held all of his practices even when he did not have to and continued to work with the boys as often as he was allowed to during that time period. Bruce at times was hard on my son, but even now my son reaches out to him for advice. Our team also had strong on the field results - being promoted from SCCL P to SCCL Club and winning Regionals and making it to the Semifinals at Nationals the following year - for us it was due to his developing a group of boys who wanted to play for him.

Reading this as an outsider: "He is an honest individual who has never lied to my family, quit on our team, or bullied a player. He has coached teams that have been pretty successful. Is he the most impactful coach my son has ever had? No. But he is better than most coaches you could play for, and he is a good person."
You'd think this is an HR blurb on an underperforming employee. But in youth soccer, this is actually a great review, putting him in the top 10-20% of coaches. I'd take this type of coach any day.

It was meant to be a compliment and I think highly of him. But you are right, if this was in corporate its a low bar thanks to other youth soccer coaches.

As an outsider, I respect the way he coaches Walton’s teams. Ball movement, connecting with each other, rather than the kickball that you see most of the time. Can’t wait to get back to club soccer.

I know he has an excellent reputation at NTH-NASA.

I read it as a compliment exactly as you intended - as would most youth soccer insiders. My thought was it's a sad commentary when the fact that a coach is honest and committed is not always a given...
