Looked like a goal to me. Surely feels like the soccer gods are against us. The Woman AR messed it up. They teach the ARs to leave the flag down unless absolutely certain and let VAR reverse the goal if it was truly offside. He wasn't offside, but VAR wouldn't overturn it due to her raising the flag first instead of waiting for the play to finish out. I'm hoping in reviewing her performance they give her some retraining and don't allow her to referee any MLS games for a while. That was an "outcome of the game changing" decision that in my opinion was wrong. That being said VAR should be able to reverse either way, not just the one way. If they saw the same video and freeze frame I saw, I don't know how they thought he was offside. |

That looked like a “watch the touch then look” judgment rather than a “listen for the touch WHILE looking”.

If we are all talking about the same goal, the play did finish out. The refs in PL reverse incorrect offsides calls when the flag is put up. We were on the side with the AR so I don't know WHEN the flag went up so I can't speak to that timing, but the whistle did not blow until after the goal was scored. Besides, did they not review it? Maybe I am thinking of something else because things did happen while I was in the bathroom.

Longshore thought it was a goal, too. We in TV land thought it would be reversed but wasn’t. Reason given by commentators was that we don’t have the technology of the EPL and so we go with the original call. |
