Does anyone know who might be coaching the CF 2009 ECNL & ECRL girls teams in the fall 2023 season? Of course by the ECNL website I can see the current coaches, but wanted to get any kind of info on what is being talked about. We are currently looking to switch clubs, so we're coming in from the outside and don't really have an understanding of what is really happening with the teams.
Also, if anybody can share information about team typical team tryouts & selection in the past couple of years, that would be greate.
Thanks!

Pretty certain John Ward will stay with the 09 ECNL team. Not sure about ECNL-R

Did your player attend the ID? Concorde starts recruiting and offering new players early. However, since teams fill from the top down, premier might still be feasible if your player can really stand out - ECNLR is probably more open.

Hey soccer888 - yes she did attend the ID camps. didn't hear anything back yet from the coaches. she's not a typical 'stand out' kid. she's just pretty good all around. I've talked to other ECNL-R level coaches and they've said that they wouldn't commit until the official tryout dates.

I would at least get them to tell you where she stands (i.e. is she team material). Coaches are willing to commit before tryouts, at all clubs, and especially at Concorde. It would be great to find out their intentions. Sometimes they'll keep dangling the carrot until after the 2nd day of tryouts so her only option is Concorde (or whichever club you're referring to). If her goal is ECNLR/ECNL you may want to test out different clubs if Concorde isn't being totally transparent.

Hey dabe - That's good advice and I agree. Unfortunately we're doing the ID Clinic/Tryout odyssey (CF, UFA, AFU) and our home club. Not fun. We'll see how it shakes out.

Hopefully he learned something.

Rivah Mills.... RUN away! Do your research people. What was you experience? Could you please elaborate? Ask anyone from the 2007 and 2008 age groups both at Roswell Santos and at Nasa Tophat. How he speaks to the girls, his actions he does with the kids, etc. Should be a red flag being removed from 2 local clubs within a short period of time.

Ummm... I've seen plenty of non-minority coaches get trashed on this board as well, and plenty of minority coaches get effusively praised. Not sure why you felt compelled to try to make a racial issue out of something that didn't seem to have anything at all to do with race- while also essentially painting anyone who complains about a minority coach as being motivated by race- but I guess that's how some people roll these days. I personally don't know Rivah at all, but as with most coaches that are discussed on this board, the truth about him is likely somewhere in the middle. All coaches seem to have their strong admirers and strong detractors, based on posts like the ones above, and the fact that they continue to coach locally in an area where seemingly everyone knows everything about everyone.

I cannot think of a moment when this would be appropriate but you can’t drop a bomb like that and then walk away.

You're right, this comment doesn't make any sense and the person looks like they deleted their profile after the post.

I cannot think of a moment when this would be appropriate but you can’t drop a bomb like that and then walk away. 2021-22 year, there was an incident where Rivah, apparently jokingly, was telling the girls what they needed to improve on. And said something along the lines of “what, do I need to write it on your forehead.” Then did just that. Was not there, but heard that the girls were laughing as was he. And a few parents took offense to that act. Perhaps, rightfully so. I would not like anyone writing on my kids’ forehead.

My kid was on the team Rivah was removed from in 2022. I know Rivah and will attest that while he is definitely the most polarizing coach I’ve encountered thus far (for many reasons), he is an exceptional trainer that will do an amazing job developing your player technically.
However, the more sensitive parents will most likely find something to take offense about as Rivah is one of those people who just is his authentic self and he doesn’t apologize for it. Feelings get hurt sometimes. Some jokes aren’t universal. Actions are open to interpretation.. but at the end of the day, I respect the dude..as does my kid and many many many other kids he’s trained and coached. I hope he’s given a fair shot somewhere.

I have a friend who’s daughter has been training with coach Rivah for several months - was bothered by the negative comments. Says coach Rivah has done nothing but improved her daughter’s skills and built her confidence to get to the next level. Personal training and coaching are two very different things... Rivah is a good guy. My daughter has never been coached by him. At this point everyone has chosen thier location for the fall. This thread will be fun to go back to after the fall season is completed. I think he will do well... Hopefully ConFire has a rule against club coach also doing "extra" individual training for his players.

I plead ignorance.

I've watched some of my daughter's team mates train with him and improve technically quickly. I can't speak to him personally but I have been impressed with how quickly he develops players technical skill, particularly younger ones. Like with alot of coaches there is some good with some bad maybe.

What does "extra" individual training mean?? Honestly no other reason I'm asking other than to simply understand what this means. I plead ignorance. I don’t know this coach but reading between the lines I think it suggests this coach has a history of expecting side income (extra training sessions) from his players if they want more playing time. [br That’s false. If and who you choose to do private lessons with should always be based upon individual player need. Your suggestion is reckless.
