Today you take the next step in your journey towards playing college soccer. Today - June 15th, signals the official kickoff to when you can now talk and engage with Coaches and Colleges. Here are some things to note and some simple advice for both players and their families. They are in no particular order and are not the all-inclusive guide to getting recruited. Please feel free to use this thread to discuss all things college recruitment. Wishing you all Good Luck and happy hunting!!!
- This process is a marathon, not a sprint.
- If you don't get a call, it's truly not a big deal.
- Create Youtube channels to post all your videos.
- Only 7% of all players get a call from colleges today.
- Have a bunch of questions ready to ask the coaches.**
- Follow the colleges on Twitter, TikTok, IG, FB(#Boomers).
- Never commit prior to visiting the college campus(it's a feeling).
- You're not in competition with your teammates, lean on each other.
- Practice with mom, dad, coaches on how to speak with college coaches.
- Take a breath and recognize that all your hard work has gotten you to this point.
- Make sure you have registered with the NCAA Clearing House or Eligibility Center.
- Keep your grades up, full rides are rare, so you will need academic scholarships too.
- Read up on any school before you talk to the coaches(hint: lookup fast facts college name).
- Clean up your social media footprint or make yours private and create ones just for recruitment.
- Collate an academic, athletic and community involved resume to share with colleges(please spell check).
- Before you send any correspondence, please spell check and make sure you spell the coaches name right.
- Obtain a copy of your transcripts. Some colleges want to know you're academically able to withstand the rigors of their institution.
- Finally, be ready to answer questions from the coach about yourself, the who, the why and more as to your interest in playing for "Awesome University"
