Mexico lol. What do you expect though, the US has been heavily invested in loaded our kids up with elite opportunities with elite leagues. If Mexico hopes to compete in the future they will need to adopt the USA model of youth soccer. Some of you may think I am just picking on Mexico, but other countries like Germany should probably listen up to, they are behind the US in FIFA soccer rankings. The model of youth development in the usa is unmatched in most of the world.

Unmatched in profitability (while the fed eschews training and solidarity payments from independent clubs - because of the profitability). But hey.. At least a lot of people make money.

The game was wild. It was fun to watch, but I am disappointed in McKennie and Dest for getting thrown out for fighting. The game was in the bag but Canada is not and it was stupid to leave us without two starters.
As far as the soccer was concerned the US played very well. It was pretty soccer for a lot of the time. Mexico definitely missed Chucky Lozano as they really had no one who was able to fly down the sidelines cutting past our defenders. The only time they got behind our outside backs was if we turned the ball over when we had the backs very high. But Antonee Robinson is so fast he can catch up easily.
I hope that we can continue to push these young guys with good options in Europe. They are all getting better all of the time.

I think USA did the correct thing after they did not qualified to 2018 WC. They invested and created a path to start sending young talent to Europe leagues. They are not stars at their teams but the competition in those leagues make them stronger and able to play faster. I think USA team will do good in the 2026, for now their weakest point is their coach, no idea why they did not hire someone with more experience.
Mexico, in the other hand, did not created that path. They prefer their local league before sending players to Europe. The reason behind is money, Mexican league has a good rating in Mexico and great numbers in USA, these two markets mean a lot of money for team owners, so they are not incentivise allowing young players going to other leagues. And that is difference, yesterday it was noticeable, USA players were literally flying on the field while Mexican players were trying to catch up.
Currently, USA has a gold generation while Mexico is in the renewal phase, Mexican gold generation (Gio DosSantos, Chicharito, Vela, Herrera, Guardado) is about to retire, and its current generation is far from being even competitive, there are few players like Chucky, Edson, but not enough to carry a team.
