Good for her. Kind of surprised she didn't finish HS before taking the pro contract.

Congratulations to Riley! I fully support players skipping the NCAA game if you’ve got the opportunity. I wonder if she has ability to get a EU passport? Going pro here as a teen is amazing but getting out of this country’s dysfunctional pro leagues needs to be the goal.

Good for her. Kind of surprised she didn't finish HS before taking the pro contract. Assume this means she will leave BT but graduate HS some other way?

I think it's reported that she going to finish BT remotely. Also, as far as I understand, when she signed with Duke, they stipulated that if she went pro, she could return (or maybe study remote) any time she wanted to.

Typically Duke allows that for kids who actually matriculated and turn pro while in college. Been that way for basketball for a long time. Since, she never attended, I’m not certain that is applicable

I understand the desire to go pro, but will this pay her mid/high 5-figures? I had always assumed the money in women's soccer is playing national team games.

I think one major advantage is she gets decide where she wants to play vs attending college and waiting to be drafted.

Saw that play out this week with baseball players either agreeing to a trade or declining to be traded.

I genuinely believe it is wrong to treat athletes like livestock. You can be loaned out in pro soccer everywhere. Not sure it is much different honestly. Many players don’t want to leave. You can be sold as well.

Good for her. Kind of surprised she didn't finish HS before taking the pro contract. If I were in her shoes I would not finish high school first. So easy to do it remotely now. Many kids already have all of the credits they need. So many of the truly elite kids graduate early. One of the Byars girls did it I think and so did Allison Sentnor from UNC Chapel Hill. For many of these kids they aren’t doing so many of the high school things anyway or went to enough homecoming dances and proms already. Hopefully she makes a decent salary there and gets a decent contract with some sports drink company or other company

Who needs homecoming dances and proms when you're already on your way to becoming a sports superstar? 🌟💪 With talent like hers, there's no doubt she'll be signing some sweet contracts with sports drink companies and other big brands. So, here's to a future filled with victories, lucrative deals, and a life that's nothing short of extraordinary!
