I’m blown away that somebody 2000 miles away cares, especially considering leagues are in constant flux, players come and go to try to improve their own (or their team’s) chances. Teams also take time to gel. So maybe they won’t repeat as national champs, or maybe they will. They’ll still be only 13. Probably better if “insider” parents don’t disclose reasons anyway lest they get accused of stirring the pot. No good will come from that. Well bless your heart |

I do believe they have a different coach this year.
They may have lost a few players. I don’t know as I have not seen the people I know on that team so far this year. They had some play ups who are back to playing with their own age group now that the 2011 are in GA instead of playing up an age group in DPL.
Why would players leave? No coach is universally loved. Kids may have decided they wanted to play with some friends or closer to home or any number of a dozen reasons. It isn’t like Tophat is the only game in town. Concorde is a good club. UFA is a good club. Depending on where people live they may go to GSA or AFU instead too. The 2010 age group at AFU was 2nd in the southeast in ECNL.
I get that you are looking for info. I have very little info that is hard facts. I have given a few facts and lots of possible reasons people might do something. If you move from North to South or West to East if Atlanta it could be over an hour to get your kid to practice. This is a potential reason people might switch after winning Nationals.

I don’t think anything is “going on” with Tophat Gold 2011 but I do think it speaks to the strength of the Girls Academy conference that the national champions of that conference tie or get beaten by 2 ECNL teams that didn’t make the ECNL playoffs last year. Don’t know how Richmond’s ECNL team did last year so I can’t speak to the strength of that team.
