We're still pretty new to the Atlanta soccer landscape so need some help finding what options there are for U14B ECNL winter training. We're looking mostly in the N. Buckhead/Perimeter/Smyrna areas, but can go further for the right program. Kid wants some rigorous play. with focus on development & skills. Indoors or outdoors. Thanks.

Question: are you able to evaluate your son's game and skillset to identify areas for improvement or expanding his game? Have you observed what skillset he be lacking this season? There are a lot of trainers out there who can work on a myriad of things, but it's crucial to ensure that the training aligns with your child's specific needs. Sometimes, parents tend to mimic the training regimens of standout players on their child's team, assuming their child requires similar coaching. In regards to rigorous play, maybe he needs to play at a higher level age-wise this offseason to enhance his speed and skills. Regardless, encourage him to maintain his high-level of play when he returns to his team and not play to their pace. Good luck...

Yeah, he's looking to work on technical skills, passing accuracy, first touches, strength/power & decision-making... he's very critical of himself, but also laser-focused on developing & playing in college. We work with trainers through the year, but interested in playing with other equally-driven players for working on 'opposed' rather than 'unopposed' situations, etc.

Be a leader, learn some new skills, and stay in shape. Might learn something, have fun, and take a break from the soccer grind. Run a goofy holiday 5k every weekend. Find a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder. Hit the mountain bike trails - there are hundreds of miles of trails w/in an hour of Atlanta. Do something different. Edit: forgot about swim team. Lats, delts, and abs to die for and great cardio with little risk of injury. Trust me.
