LIVE, FOX Sports 2, 8 p.m. ET
The USWNT will win no doubt, just sucks our first game is against the T&T team
The Trinidadian federation had still been in the process of securing and transferring money from the national ministry of sport and it hadn't come through in time. The players, many of whom are of modest means and quit jobs even though they have never made a penny from soccer, were left hanging out to dry. Waldrum's tweets went viral and an online campaign raised about $14,000 within a few days. "I did what any other coach would have done for their team," he told FOXsoccer.com in his heavy Texan drawl. "We just don't have the resources that the other countries have."
Most of the money came from donors with no affiliation to Trinidad or its soccer team. FC Dallas let the team use its practice facility for free and put on a women's exhibition game to raise money. The Hunt family, which owns the MLS club, took care of meals. The American Outlaws supporters group provided water and sports drinks for practices. US Soccer and the NWSL both donated money. The Canadian federation provided badly-needed long-sleeve undershirts to play in the cold weather. Haiti, a group opponent dealing with its own financial hardships, sent over its last $1,300.

USWNT was fortunate to come out of that game with a win. They had lots of chances, but couldn't finish them. T & T also had quite a few good chances. Not the USWNT's best performance.

well, maybe our expectation is to high...... i'm just amazed, here you play the first meaningful game in quite some time, and that's how they played. they fire Tom Sermanni and then that's what they put out on the field? the highlights below don't do the game justice, it wasn't pretty, missed a lot of opportunities, and again no definitive style of play. look i'm a nobody, never had a kid play at that level, i didn't play at that level, but something is wrong with our National team system. I just don't get how this team doesn't play consistently better. Again, maybe my expectations are way to high. i don't think my expectations are too high though, and the main reason why: the core of this team has been together for years. they have years upon years of experience at forward, midfield, defense and keeper. women that have grown up playing together -- why isn't there more chemistry on the field? at this point it should just be natural. girls should just know where each other are. i don't mind the balls being swung in from the out wide given aby is there. (say what you want, but she still is the best goal scorer on the womens side on the planet, she has to be on the field!). but, i'm sick of seeing the long balls played over top, keep the freaking ball. personally i think holiday needs to play more of an attacking role and lloyd needs to start distributing the ball more. she seems to only want to score vs give that great assist which should be her role. the defenses lapses are astonishing also, how did they continually let t&t get behind them. the 2 hope solo give aways are shocking also. u9-u12s make that mistake, not the best female keeper on the planet. i'll end with this, if you asked the "pros" who their top 50 coaches in the world were, would jill ellis even make the list? doubtful, i think that is a problem. There are 2 players on that team that deserve to be treated special and that's wambach and morgan. those 2 are critical with the current success and future of womens soccer. alex will and almost already is the face of womens soccer. shes got it all. wambach has lost a step for sure, her touch isn't what it used to be, but man does she work hard. without her last night, they walk away 0-0. she commands so much attention, that by her just being on the field in the box, it allows space for other attackers. sorry for the rant, www.ussoccer.com/stories/2014/10/15/22/44/141015-wnt-v-tri-highlights

I'm not worried at all. While they only won 1-0, it could've easily been 10-0. They had close to 30 shots on goal. T&T had a few good chances but the US team dominated in terms of possession. I think they went into the game a bit relaxed and it showed..especially with Hope Solo. She made two crucial mistakes by rolling the ball out carelessly that almost cost the team. That being said, I was impressed with the play of Rapinoe and Morgan. Rapinoe rarely lost possession and made some great decisions out there. Morgan was aggressive on the ball and had some great chances. I also watched the Haiti vs. Guatemala game. I've seen better sides at the Lady Silverbacks games than either of those teams. Guatemala played a man up for over 75 minutes yesterday yet it looked like Haiti had the man advantage. The US should easily dispatch both of those teams. If they struggle against either of those teams then I would start worrying. T&T played really well and organized yet the US still maintained control of the game.

Yes, It could have been 10-0, but it wasn't. Could of, should of but wasn't. they had 9 shots on goal. Their keeper had 8 saves to her credit. The final result was 1-0. In the end, we snuck out of KC with a 1-0 win over inferior team.
I don't think people are worried, its just disappointing play from the number 1 team in the world!
And yes, something is wrong with US soccer, back to back poorly attended games. Are ticket prices too high? If you haven't sold tickets by game day, sorry but its time to lower the costs and let folks in the gates! KC and south florida should be ashamed of themselves to be honest. I thought KC was the center of soccer in the US with their MLS and womens league success?? Have I missed something also?

We gave 250 bucks to TNT...enough for lunch for one day...I am sure that made the difference in their performance...
First, credit to TNT, players and staff. They have some fast players, and they have players with skill. Just not many of them. But their skilled players are the equal of any skill displays we saw from USWNT last evening. Athleticism is lacking overall, but they got the most out of their team.
Second, for me, this is an example of why the USWNT time is probably over (to paraphrase Herb Brooks). What they have are big athletic players, few of whom can actually match the best players in the world on technical ability, not to mention tactical awareness. Why is Sidney Leroux on the USWNT? Because she is fast and strong. Marginally skilled. Funny thing is that she was not as fast as the players marking her last night. Heather O'Reilly? Still? Alex Morgan was disinterested and obviously not taking the match very seriously. Abby was serious, I will give her that, but if you are counting on her to carry the team...again...there is trouble. Their wing backs do not even understand the concept of wide and shallow to provide proper support angles. If they do, they don't show it very consistently. These are basic things! Let's not even talk about the bad bad giveaways by multiple members of that comedy troupe that was out there last night.
Third, France and Germany have players that are just as big and athletic and, on average, with better technical quality than the USWNT. If you do not believe me, pull up a few videos. Japan are better technically. Canada have caught the USWNT in multiple facets of play. Not worried about Brasil again; they treat their WNT so shabbily that they will find it hard to be a factor. It will be very very difficult for the USWNT to get past the semifinals.
Fourth, USSoccer picked about the least accomplished person to coach this team they could find. The selection was like a lifetime achievement award. Just a terrible step backward for this program. Look at her coaching record.
Fifth, I am cranky this morning!

I think some rotten luck is in play as far as playing in Kansas City the same night that the Kansas City Royals were completing a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles to go to the World Series for the first time in 29 years. If sports fans weren't at that baseball game, they were watching it on TV. They'll probably have a much better attended game in Chicago. I'd be more concerned about the men's game in Boca Raton. The attendance there was horrible with no competing sporting events. I do think the ticket prices are a bit steep but I spend all my available extra cash on youth soccer so $20 a ticket is too steep for me. The tickets at the USMNT game ranged from $28 (endline) to $248 (VIP Front Row Seats) with a midfield seat on the opposite side of the benches running you $63. For a friendly, that is way too high. US Soccer seems to be perfectly happy to have their teams play in 80% empty stadiums. I'd make the seats general admission and charge $25 per ticket. You'd have a much larger crowd and sell much more food and souvenirs and expose more fans to the team.
