At some point people need to realize the entire system is broke. From the process of selecting players all the way to those that select the players.

I imagine if it does, he won’t make it out of the locker room. At least he apologized -hopefully he gets it together-he is talented…but that talent helps no one when you are ineligible…

Let's not be so quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater. This issue is symptomatic of broader problems stemming from a lack of effective leadership. Many have rightfully pointed out that we have a broken system. As hosts to the 2026 WC, I'm hoping that this pushes us to have meaningful discussions on essential, meaningful and structural changes to the state of Soccer in the United States. I know we have a gazillion other more profitable leagues, but I truly believe there is room for soccer. We need serious participants willing to do serious work to overhaul our system, from soup to nuts. Until then, the current cycle persists, with "the stars" and their leaders perpetuating a cycle of inefficiency and ineptness 🌟⚽🌟

Until then, the current cycle persists, with "the stars" and their leaders perpetuating a cycle of inefficiency and ineptness 🌟⚽🌟 It’s a modern day good old boy system. Nothing’s going to change. Now you have an eighth tier professional league controlling the development of youth soccer. By developing I mean they grab whatever currently looks good in hopes it turns into something shinier on its own. Just imagine the blowback if you created a youth national team out of non-MLS players playing together and practicing like the academy teams do and beat them. Their precious con would be exposed. Until the US implements a real scouting program nothing will get better. Don’t even start with the women they had the advantage of years of playing when other countries didn’t even allow women to play. They too are getting exposed.

So, let’s see. Last night a player who was born and raised in the Netherlands, played and was trained in the Dutch youth soccer leagues, and never played for an American team until he played with the US U17 youth national team generates posts about how the US Soccer system is broken. Unless you are complaining that the US can’t find a player who is better to replace him on the USMNT, then I don’t follow the logic.

The weakest link in the USMNT chain is Berhalter...
@andrescantorgol "You are up 4-0 in the series, you lose your right full back to a red card and you leave your double 9 on the game to take out your best ball handler. In what textbook is that tactic that Berhalter used today? That allowed a semi pro team like T&T ranked 99th in the world to out play the US the entire second half. Luckily they ran out of gas around the 30’ mark and could not get the two goals they needed."

Other teams used the 5 subs to re-energize their teams in the 2nd half. GB sat on his like he only had 2, maybe 3 to give. Hurt us every time. Needs to go away.

Last night I thought we’d get some fresh legs in their to keep it at 1-1 but he only used 3 subs all night and one of them was so late in the game that it barely mattered.

So he hasn't learned from his earlier mistakes. That's a bad sign. We all make mistakes - the question is - do you learn from them? Apparently not.

The replacement is Tim Weah; famous footballing father, played abroad since 14.

The post about the US Soccer system being inept should revolve mostly around coaching and scouting one the men’s side for right now. We definitely need to overhaul the whole system, but let’s be real a large portion of our players are either born outside the US and did their entire soccer careers abroad or are children of elite soccer players and were moved abroad as teens. Make no mistake, these players are all elite players!!! But they are also young and are going to make stupid mistakes! It happens! He lost his cool, but was not violent. It wasn’t like Lauren James stepping on a player’s back intentionally or other young players we have seen kick out at people (Almada).

A mentor once shared with me the distinction between two types of coaches. Coaches that are Grade A+ phenomenal at training sessions. They comprehend the assignment, formulating effective goals or plans, and flawlessly executing them on the training grounds. On the other side of that coin, are Coaches who are great in-game coaches who are adept at making the "adjustments" Once an opponent negates the game-plan, GB is completely useless and almost can't reset, read the game as is and make the adjustments to counteract what is going on in the game. It's almost like he says with his silence, um you guys figure it out, because my game plan is star spangled awesome, NOT!!!
