Can’t say for certain now, but the “top clubs” have always liked to avoid each other whenever they can. That way, they can all claim to be the “best” and not have any results that say otherwise …

They do. Only clubs that don’t play each other are NASATophat and Concorde.
For Academy scheduling there’s literally an “Alliance” where they schedule themselves first before adding the smaller clubs.

GSA and AFU do not play each other outside of occurrences at tournaments and there are more examples I could think of.

I think it depends on the club. UFA Academy in Forsyth scheduled several games against CF, SSA, and NTH. There were games against GSA and AFU too, though only 1-2. You can find a link to the UFA Academy schedule on this page: forsyth.unitedfa.org/schedules TK

Also, if clubs are geographically close to each other (i.e. Tophat and Concorde) there can be an issue of poaching players. If it has a history of happening, clubs might decide to stop playing each other.

Wait, Concorde & Tophat don't play against each other even at the Academy ages these days? That really stinks. I knew it was going on at the older ages with the ECNL/GAL rift, but assumed the younger ones still played each other. Those were the most fun games for our daughter, and the ones her team looked the most forward to and got up for the most. It's a shame that the adults have to ruin things like that for the kids.
