I wouldn't question Carlis assessment. Everything I've seen from her is spot on.

I wouldn't question Carlis assessment. Everything I've seen from her is spot on. Let's be honest- people who don't agree with Lloyd politically are going to disagree with anything she says about the USWNT too. They will frame any criticisms- legitimate or not- as "attacks"- and say she is a hater and has no right to criticize since she's not part of the team anymore. Honestly I have no idea what Carli's true politics are, other than she was not a part of the far left wing & ultra woke, very vocal segment of the current & recent past USWNT. Which for many on that side of the political spectrum- both on the team and outside- put a huge target on Carli, and automatically makes her a hard right, "Ultra MAGA" conservative, whether she truly is or not. The reality is, just looking at the results on the field over the past few years, you cannot rationally argue that she's wrong. The USWNT has regressed on the world stage in terms of actual play and results. You can argue about why that has happened, but not that it has- and to me, those arguments are fair to have, and can be complicated and multi-faceted. But Carli shouldn't be demonized for daring to bring it up.

Did US players at national level get worse? Did the wrong players get picked? Did? Did US coaching get worse? Did the women's game worldwide just catch up?
Whatever your reason, the answer to all of these is that we need a better system in the US.

But Carli shouldn't be demonized for daring to bring it up. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. It's disheartening how often comments are filtered through a political lens, even in areas that should be devoid of such divisions. The recent controversy surrounding Lindsey Horan's remarks serves as a stark reminder of this. Regardless of personal feelings towards Carli Lloyd, her extensive achievements as a multiple gold medal winner, world cup champion, and Ballon D'or recipient undeniably afford her the right to express her opinions freely and without undue scrutiny. The real issue we should be discussing is why does a consummate winner and champion feel this way and what can we do to improve. Additionally, I would hope Emma Hayes is watching and taking loads of notes in-between her Chelsea - WSL games. With the WSL season ending in May and the Olympics around the corner in late July, she will have a very short window to put her stamp on this team...

I don't know that it has changed. Let us hope.

Emma Hayes has her work cut out for her. I will be watching with interest. Particularly regarding player selection and playing style.
