Anyone have insight as to why Saxon Venair left CF to go to Inter? I understood that he was held in high regard at CF. Wouldn't have thought CF woudl want him to go. I've heard from multiple people that Inter just made him an offer that was too good to turn down. CF did not want him to leave, but couldn't/wouldn't match what Inter was willing to pay. If the number I was told is even close, it was a no-brainer decision for him. Not sure what Inter pays their coaches, but lately I have been impressed with the coaching I have seen by some of them. Basically I have seen them take teams that on the surface should not be “that good.” Meaning players that aren’t particularly athletic or skilled, but they just are able to move the ball well around the pitch. They don’t panic and they don’t play boom ball. They work well together and communicate. They keep to their game plan and play the ball quickly and smoothly. Saxon will continue to bring their level up and it will be good for their club. |

..2009 Navy will likely Tyler again (but he coaches at Lovett) Not anymore. Any idea what happened at Lovett? Heard rumblings that he was escorted off the campus. It close to the end of the year and if he was escorted, something must have happened. |

Any idea what happened at Lovett? Heard rumblings that he was escorted off the campus. It close to the end of the year and if he was escorted, something must have happened. fired as a coach, fired as a teacher, then physically escorted off campus. not a good look for a youth soccer coach. his next stop must be UFA!  |

After he was fired (not resigned), set up a meeting with head of school, didn't show, and sent the varsity boys team players go in his place to ask that head of school change her mind. Apparently, at that point, the school decided to remove him immediately from the premises. |

It was not soccer related. And, his players were not happy about it. Some of the other replies in this thread are more rumor than fact. But, since this is a soccer forum, I’ll leave it at that. |

Heard he requested to coach the HS aged boys and Mirza told him no as that’s what Garth does, we’ll except the whiny 08s who demanded Yusuf stay are they’d all leave. Sadly AFU loses one of their best coaches over politics. 🤷🏻♂️ Interesting that a club would allow this type of demand from players and parents in what is perceived as “competitive level”. Is Alex Pineda a good coach? Anyone has experience with thim? |

Alex was one of the best coaches we had. He knows the game and knows how to push boys to get to that next level, helluva lose for AFU but thats what they do. |

Several of the top players from last season left the team so we are now realizing that the team for next season isn't going to be nearly as competitive. Edit: I see you edited your question to be specifically about the coach.
It's probably as much about the coach as it is about the exodus of players away from GA. Go talk to parents of the girls that have left (or of parents of top players who dont consider th viable any longer.) I know multiple families that viewed th as the holy Grail of girls clubs just a couple years ago, who now wouldn't dare put their daughters into GA at this point even though th is a bit of an outlier for the league.
And please understand that I believe th isn't at risk of dying or anything. They're still a strong club. The boys ECNL program combined with the girls GA will keep them around indefinitely

Heard that the girls left because of the coach. How true is this? Depending on where you were before and what you are looking for, it may not really be a big deal. If this is a step up (not on an ECNL/GA team last year) then the games and trainings may still be helpful to your player. She is pre-HS. She has time. As long as she is still enjoying the game then I would not worry too much. Keep working outside the trainings. Tophat is pretty good about scrimmaging their teams against Gold and Navy teams older and younger. Tyler was still on SCCL teams when we were there so I have no experience with him personally, but just remember that all coaches get good a bad recommendations. I know he is getting mixed reviews for sure. What your kid’s experience will be may not be the same as someone else’s kid’s experience. |
