Poking around. My son, current U14/2010 . Any basic info/scoop on Rush Union? Thanks We had a fantastic experience at RU in Dunwoody with our son, who moved there as a U16 and played through U18 (graduated before U19). He had been at one of the bigger clubs on lower teams for most of his time before and always felt like an afterthought. Inconsistent coaching, inconsistent player availability for games, always placed at too high of a level so lost almost every game, etc. RU is smaller and only had two teams in the age group we were in, and they did a lot of practicing together. Loved both coaches he had, and they genuinely seemed to care about the boys as both people and players. And were always very friendly with the parents too. Having those big turf fields at Brook Run was great in terms of practices & games rarely getting cancelled, and you had more space than at many other clubs' fields. I can say that our son's last few seasons at RU were his favorite in his "club career" and really made him realize how much he enjoyed soccer. So a definite recommendation from one random person you don't know on an anonymous message board- ha!

No direct experience but I'm always asking friends and team mates. Big differences from branch to branch.
I hear good things from friends with a u9 boy and a u11 girl about the RU branch out of Brook Run. Lots of kids coming back. I have heard nothing but bad about RU up near Milton. Seasonal exodus.

Milton has had some good teams and good players over the years but the players often leave at U13 for UFA and opportunities that will allow them more exposure. The last player I am aware of on the girls side that stayed there past that and had a good experience/development was Jordan Dudley and she turned out great! Rush has opportunities nationally to play with high level teams if a player is a stud, but I think the most important thing is always the coach and the team fit. At the moment on the girls side I think Brook Run location has some very strong coaches and teams. The boys side seems to do well but I have less experience there. Good luck. Find the coach and team first especially with the young ones. A good and FUN start is the most important thing.
