Way to go ATL with over 51,000 at the Benz. Nice come from behind win.
Loved seeing USL championship game on CBS. Lou City stadium was rocking.
Did you go to USWNT game? What was the atmosphere like in the building?

Slow start on the energy just like the team’s start, but it got better. More cheering and a wave was started as time went on. People were loud for Sonnett when she subbed on, as was appropriate since she is a hometown girl.
As usual they WAY underestimated demand for merch. 300 scarves sold in 15 minutes at one of the merch stands according to a women ahead of me who was looking for them and spoke to an employee working the stand. They were out of most sizes of sweatshirts, long sleeve T shirts early too. This was all well before the end of the first half.

Largest crowd since the 1999 World Cup Final! Way to show up. Minimal chaos except for the “fan” getting completely wrecked for running on the field after the game 😂.

Great atmosphere. I think many weren’t even in their seats yet when Japan scored. After that Japan really had only a couple other chances the rest of the game.
US probably should have had a few more goals. Combination of some great goalkeeping and missed opportunities.

Just got back from watching both games at the Benz. Crowd was great. Loved seeing the support for the women’s team.
Thought Nightswonger was fantastic (minus falling asleep on the first goal) and Coffey was a boss in the midfield. Hope the injuries to Coffey and Girma are minor.

Was grass brought in? Or was it the normal turf?

Got in well before the game started and couldn't find hardly anything below large. Game was great though!!

There was an article and pictures of the game in my little home town newspaper…a testament to how popular Women’s soccer is becoming…

Was grass brought in? Or was it the normal turf? It was turf and after a few scary moments yesterday, we likely won’t be seeing uswnt at the Benz again anytime soon.

"both matches will be played on natural grass added for the event" They watered before the match and came out with a team of people doing sand touch ups in holes a few times. It was really nice looking compared to most of the youth fields around here

That being the case, I happily stand corrected. It certainly looked like turf from my vantage point and google search. Good to see US Soccer make the investment for the ladies.

It was grass 💯 We were very close to the pitch and you could smell the grass. In addition we are ATL UTD season tix holders from the beginning and the ball behaved MUCH differently than it does on the artificial turf. They will need to fine tune it for the Copa America and the World Cup. That surface was not up to par.

And it absolutely recked my allergies.

I’m happy it was grass. It looked like turf from the TV. So they are getting better at grass on top of turf. I couldn’t see any seems at all. It must have been really wide rolls. The ball seemed to behave as if it was on grass.
