Just curious, for parents that have had kids go play in college (specifically boys), what has their experience been? Did they get playing time as a freshman or sophomore? Did they play all 4 years? What division is your kid playing and what did they play in highschool (MLS Academy/Next, ECNL/RL, SCCL, etc)? How hard did they work to get recruited or how much help did your club offer? Did they get any athletic scholarship money? Did they stay in-state or go out of state? I've heard how so many colleges now heavily recruit international students, that there is very little money in soccer scholarships and that the transfer portal is really changing college recruiting. Trying to get a true feel on how realistic it is for a boy to go play in college, especially if he is not on a MLS Academy team and just on an ECNL team? Looking through the major Metro Atlanta clubs Instagram accounts, girls recruiting looks pretty strong, but the number of boys committing to colleges considering the sheer number of boys playing on an ECNL/ECRL at the main 5 - 6 soccer clubs, seems kinda low. Curious if they just aren't getting recruited or are these boys just choosing not to play past highschool. Thoughts?

My oldest son played for GSA's ECRL 04/05 team last year. Most of his teammates are playing D2 and D3. It can be done.
