What options are there for 2008-2013 boys this summer?
We’ve played major club summer league in prior years but the competition was weak (I guess the best players take the summer off?) and we’ve done indoor Futsal but our program (Select Futsal by Ross Lawrence) closed.

We are also looking into summer options. Don't want to join a summer league since the quality of play doesn't seem to be very good based on past experience. We are looking into futsal because we want to be able to stay out of the GA heat. We found Bra5il Futsal. www.bra5ilfutsal.com/. Has anyone ever heard of them?

What level are you looking for because the top kids are playing ECNL and ECNL-RL and heading do nationals at the end of June. You may be able to ask a coach to train with one of those teams through that and then usually Mid July team camps/preseason for Fall start.

Summer swim team, trail running, mountain biking, hike the top 10 trails in GA, pick up basketball, pickleball, tennis, cross training at the local Y, do a couple of sprint triathlons.
Parents on the first rodeo overemphasize soccer at the expense of everything else. We did as well. Looking back, give your kids some time off to do other activities. They may lose some touch on the ball, but they'll come back with other skills you're not thinking of right now.

Every league in the world has a mid season break, why would you not do the same for your child? As the previous poster stated give them a break, do other things and then in late July they will come back fresh for the new season. Year round soccer will lead to burn out and potentially injuries. 12-13 year old bodies, as an example, are still developing at a rapid rate. Spending hours per week all year round will take a considerable toll on your child's muscles and joints. Especially on turf.

I remember asking our first ECNL coach at U12 or whatever and he basically said the same thing. Give them a break or play another sport during the summer.
