not that we didn't already know this, but looks like silverbacks, ie Boris are trying to sell off their nasl franchise. from what i gather their adult leagues are probably profitable along with summer camps etc. sounds like even after paying their players very little, they aren't turning a profit. i think someone said they were getting ready to re-turf the parking lot. wonder if thats on hold. 2017 will be here soon, surprised, there hasn't been more info about youth/DA development from atlanta mls team. you would think you would want to jump start that side, but might be too costly with no revenue stream. www.ajc.com/news/sports/pro-sports/ajc-soccer-insider-silverbacks-future-cloudy/nhsM8/

Is there any update on this? I have been pretty disappointed with the quality of the soccer in the last couple months (since Mike Randolph was injured) and now these financial woes perhaps explain a lot of that.

Is there any update on this? I have been pretty disappointed with the quality of the soccer in the last couple months (since Mike Randolph was injured) and now these financial woes perhaps explain a lot of that. Here's an update Jash...straight from the NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. Looks promising for our Silverbacks. It's a great interview covering alot of bases with the NASL and it's future. I got the link from the Atlanta Silverbacks Alliance Council - News group on Facebook. Peterson touts West Coast NASL announcement by “end of year,” Canadian expansion, moreAs the league continues to explore expansion possibilities, several announced expansion clubs have all but stalled out in their pursuit of a professional side — while one established club sees an uncertain future. Recently, Atlanta issued a statement regarding the club’s situation following reports of a sale. A disappointing season both on and off the field and the announced launch of the much-ballyhooed MLS franchise spearheaded by Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank put the Silverbacks in a precarious position. Ownership is said to be holding onto the Silverbacks name, but are open to selling their club infrastructure whether within Atlanta or outside of the city. Regardless of that outcome, the NASL hopes to have a team in Atlanta for 2015 — with or without the Silverbacks. “We are evaluating a lot of different situations with the club,” Peterson said. “Our number one goal and intention is to continue to have a team in Atlanta. We like the market place and love the fans we have there. We think here is even more room to grow that club and be more successful than we have been, but we have to make some decisions on ownership and the direction of the club and are working everyday on that. “It is a high priority,” he continues. “We realize we are leaving some fans and employees in the lurch not knowing what is going on, but we are putting our 100% effort in finding the right answer. “I suspect they will be there [for 2015]. Our owners have been committed to that market for years and we will find a way to keep going there. I can’t promise that today but that is everyone’s intention. The owners of our league believe in that market place and want to find the right solution.”

Our 9s played against Jason smiths 9s today. Feal bad for the guy! Why do you feel bad for him? Because he doesn't coach the silverbacks anymore? I know the guy and trust me hes very happy. Things didnt go exactly as the SB told them but its doesnt matter, the end result was the same.
