I know this will probably never happen for many reasons, but would clubs ever change the format for tryouts? The current format of everyone having their tryouts for the same 3 days is 100% Club focused and 0% player focused. Is there any chance we could ever move to something like the below: - Tryouts move from 1 week to 2 weeks
- Clubs cannot make an offer until the end of week 1
- After week one clubs can only make offers for x% of a teams roster (2/3 to 3/4).
- Clubs are expected to let you know where you stand even if an offer isn't made. A club may elect to only make offers for their top 1 or two teams but players will know where they stand.
By doing this - Players can explore 2 teams and clubs can get a decent look at them
- Clubs can get a better look at players seeing them possibly 6 times
- Players aren't having to put all their eggs in one backet or try to figure out where they stand and what to do if they are looking at two clubs
- Clubs are protected from their own greed to some extent and may be able to build better teams by better identifying talent and not making offers to quickly.

So technically for all USClub teams tryouts started May 1st. That’s why most of the top teams are typically set before these dates start or night one.
It would be nice to see tryouts pushed to mid/late June. Lots of states are still in season and have tournaments through Memorial Day anyway. Add in if you’re doing Nationals then you can get to or almost through those before tryouts. We could even push the season back to Sept 1 instead of Aug 1 and go closer to the end of the year. Get away from the hottest / unsafe days for those cool late Fall days.
