5-1 Columbia.
US was destroyed. How do you fix that?

Short-term, new coach.
Mid-term, new USSF members.
Long-term, new pro system.

Let’s only allow rich kids to play, and make the NCAA soccer season very short. And let MLS teams sign three good players each. And focus on parity. Don’t let others into the pro division unless they have a stadium and several billion dollars. And definitely structure the player contracts to favor the owners.

We looked like a lower level team playing up in a tournament.

3 quick observations-
1- We need some creativity. We played the ball wide and then crossed it to the middle over and over again, hoping to score. Reminds me of when I was a kid and every team played a 4-4-2 and tried to beat you on the cross. Football has changed. Change with it, USMNT.
2- Colombia is better than I expected. I forgot they had several Premier League players on the roster. What is going to happen when we play Brazil?
3- Matt Turner needs to go. Tim Ream’s age has caught up with him. Robinson had one of his worst games ever.

Forgot to add Canada plays France today. It’ll be interesting to see how Jesse Marsch’s team fares against a top European team. Seems like he would be an upgrade from Berhalter.

Whether or not Marsch would be better for the USMNT, I am not convinced Berhalter is the answer. Ready for a change.

I know MLS roster rules make it a crapshoot for gauging a team’s quality - but GB was barely middling average in MLS. I have no idea why the fed thinks he is up to the task.

Totally agree that GB is not the answer. He's had this team for years and I can't see that he's made any real progress with them, unless your goal is simply to win in CONCACAF (bleh). I don't know who the right replacement is (please, don't say Klinsi), but it would be great if we could land someone who could actually implement a system that works for the young players we have, and not try to jam players into a system that clearly doesn't work for them against teams who know what they're doing.

I would support Hugo Perez in the role after seeing what he did with US youth and later the El Salvador men’s national team. The ES team especially played far above a level they were expected. Kinda the opposite of what we see from GGG

Had to leave the house, but it looks like Canada and France are going to end in a draw... 0-0

GGG is the son of our MLSSF past. That said, he's a failson with no upside.
The reason why Marsch wouldn't be the guy is bc he's also a "system guy" like GGG. Diff is his systems have had success, albeit for short durations.
Canada drew nil-nil aginst a quality French lineup. I'd take that in a heartbeat. Howabout y'all?

Robinson had one of his worst games ever. I finally watched the absolute beat down game against Columbia. You are spot on about #1. We need any type of creativity, because we currently have zero. It's like basketball vs net-ball. Zero creativity and what was worse was watching our forwards look unsure of what to do with the ball in the final third. In addition to the anemic production in the final third, we were absolutely horrible in the back. Yes Turner could have done better but our backline was inept and waaaaay out of their dept. Blocking the shot only to give it back to the opponent does not make you a good defender. You're nothing more than a cone at that point. I believe today marks the 2-year countdown to the kickoff for the 2026 WC. At this rate, we might as well give our automatic slot to someone else because this team will not show well and will only ensure we get embarrassed on home soil...
