Looks like former Spurs, PSG, and Chelsea Manager, Mauricio Pochettino will be the next USMNT Manager... Hard to believe. I hope he will be allowed to change the system as well.

I wish him the best of luck. No question in my mind that he is a better manager than GGG but I suspect the federation will continue to stack the deck in a way that compromises any manager’s best work.
I hope he can quickly have a similar effect that Emma Hayes has brought.

Definitely a top flight hire Proven winner It is long overdue that US Soccer does something right as it pertains to the USMNT

I like this hire. I saw a lot of improvement last season at Chelsea despite having a “mish mash” roster. Always helps to have a guy like Cole Palmer on your team, but I think Pochettino was a big reason for Chelsea’s turnaround too.
Hope he can do wonders for the USMNT. At a minimum, I think he will know how to adapt to other teams instead of doing the same thing over and over like GGG. Time will tell.

I wonder what's going through Pouchettinos head.
He knows all the tricks needed to get players to play at the next level. But he also has to know that the players he has to work with aren't at the level he's used to working with.
How do you bridge that gap?
Can he bridge that gap?

No I was referencing the last line in the tweet It wasn't shade in the way you may be thinking. One of the duo that make up the Men in Blazers - Michael Davies is a Chelsea fan. Since Poch coached Chelsea then he's a 'real coach' p.s. For the record, his partner Roger Bennett is an Evertonian

Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as the new USMNT manager is a major snag that should help calm the critics at USSF who believed Matt Crocker should have been dismissed for reappointing Gregg Berhalter. Poch, might be exactly what the USMNT needs to reinvigorate the squad and reset expectations for all players. The established stars now have to prove they deserve their spot on the field, while those on the fringes will have the chance to show what they are capable of as well. It all starts with ensuring they're fit and ready. Poch's high-pressing system, possession, and buildout demand his players be truly fit, and mastering it will be even more challenging for those not in top shape.
Pochettino has coached at the highest levels of the game, and his style of play promises to be both creative and exciting to watch. Having managed elite players like Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, and Kane, he brings a wealth of experience that should command the respect and attention of the USMNT squad. I think that will help with the players "buying in." The USMNT is known for its work ethic, and now they have a coach who can hopefully devise a game plan that leverages that strength to compete with some of the world's better teams. Hey, it gives us a fighting chance.
However, his lack of international coaching experience and the limited time—only nine international-friendly windows—pose a challenge in implementing his style of play. Hopefully, the friendlies against Canada, New Zealand, and Panama in the next few weeks can help give him a better understanding of what he's working with. It's also a plus that he speaks both English and Spanish...
Starting today, there are just 665 days until the World Cup kickoff. It’s time to get to work!!!
p.s. Not sure if folks are aware, but we now know where the USMNT will play their first three World Cup games... June 12, 2026: Sofi Stadium, California June 19, 2026: Lumen Field, Seattle June 25, 2026: Sofi Stadium, California
