Premier showcase event in the Southeast and you cancelled based on a fat maybe the weather will be bad because a hurricane is 5 states away.

Premier showcase event in the Southeast and you cancelled based on a fat maybe the weather will be bad because a hurricane is 5 states away. I would say it's worth remembering that last year this event was a mess. I refereed all three days last year. Horrible rain all day Saturday then awful field conditions on Sunday that should not have been played in. GSP took months to recover from it, especially the goals mouths and AR sides. I would guess them and Concorde didn't want a repeat and have teams come not to play. These are showcases at the end of the day

Two SC clubs decided not to travel to Atlanta for league games so both Sat/Sun games were canceled for my kid's team. Games were already set to be on turf fields, so chances they'd be scrubbed due to weather were already mitigated. Didn't look at who they'd be playing on the alternate days, so perhaps they were playing on grass. At least he was able to get assigned some games to referee (grass fields that were fine to play on). My other kid's games (different league) were played. They did move Saturday game to a turf field. THe makeup games will apparently be in January?! I don't even know how many kids will be available with high school soccer tryouts going on. Might have no practices and just play the games?

For us not in the know -- did they cancel a showcase in Atlanta? When did they cancel Friday night? ECNL runs a showcase each year in september for u14-u12 (been boys only that may have been different this year). This would have been year 3. It was cancelled on wednesday morning. No clue on any refunds.

Thanks! yea, wasn't sure what happened.
for the boys: But I've been saying it for years get rid of younger teams attending showcases - it just creates field space issues -- let the older kids get full 90 minute games in at good field locations -- focus on the 3 older age groups only 16, 17s and 19s. and honestly not sure if the 16s need to attend either for the boys -

U16 is the key age.

And did they refund any fees? To the club? Yes. As well as they’ll try and add those teams to other ECNL showcases later this year. It was a u12-u14 ECNL event so they all play in the spring.
