Curious what all think about a "champions League" format. Best teams from state of Ga in all leagues play a league format to determine best team in state. Old state cup at one time determined the best team in the state. Since there are so many diff leagues that our club based not winning based why not have a Champions league format. Just curious of thoughts.

Old state cup at one time determined the best team in the state. Since there are so many diff leagues that our club based not winning based why not have a Champions league format. Just curious of thoughts. I think it's a noble cause and would be exciting to see how it plays out. The challenge, as always, lies in determining the "best" teams. Is it by the league they're in, the number of wins, college commitments, goals scored, costs, or amount of travel? The only true way to settle this is by giving every team a shot so that it’s earned on the pitch, leaving no room for doubt. If a statewide tournament isn't feasible, then at the very least, I propose a metro Atlanta version— The Atlanta Cup or The ATL Cup. This event could take place at the end of the season, right before tryouts, allowing clubs to scout players by seeing them perform live, rather than relying on the often misleading reputations of top-tier clubs like ECNL, GAL, and MLS academies. Let’s make it a college showcase as well, inviting loads of college coaches during a lull in their season to scout players in real time. We could involve local sponsors and vendors to create a week-long event, packed with excitement, community engagement, and opportunities for players to shine. Trophies for achievements like the Golden Boot and Golden Glove would add to the prestige and spirit of competition. Have the tournament and finals culminate on the Sunday/Monday of Memorial Day weekend... Imagine: The ATL Cup, presented by Coca-Cola: a week-long soccer extravaganza that benefits players, clubs, and colleges alike!

Well just like champions league there’s always could be discussion on who the best teams are. Top two from SCCL champions league, top 4 from Ecnl southeast etc etc. wouldn’t be hard to come up with a format. As for showcase event.. for sure. Anyways would love to see it
