Can a club get booted out of ECNL?

That already happened I understand. First club had membership revoked at end of last season I think. The ECNL people will know for sure. Virginia Rush? And then there are at least two other clubs, one in Florida and one in Georgia, that have been performing well below average overall. There is always talk about them.

The Georgia team youre referring to...yes there has been talks and rumors for a while, theyre doing bad well below the other 2, but who know if it will ever happen? I also heard they used to have DA and lost it?

Yes - that club did lose DA a few years back. GUSA replaced them based on their alliance of NSA, NASA, AFC, and UFA. Since then, the "Alliance" has also added Lanier and SSA.

The million dollar question! "Damn if you do, Damn if you don't".
This is one of the crutches of the ECNL program and one of the arguments for those on the outside looking in as well as some of those on the inside who wants a stronger (more competitive) league that is continuously improving. The program in its 5-year infancy does have a "lack of quality control" with true promotion / relegation.
If you boot out the lowest performing clubs:
1. The membership club would seem as if they are alienating poorly performing clubs vs. helping them get better (perhaps mixed signals from founding principles?) 2. The membership club may alienate a handful of its earlier supporters that it needed to gain critical mass, and become what it is today (when others doubted the program) 3. Since membership & invitation is by club (not by team), what does this do to the clubs that may have 3-low performing team and 1-average, and 1-top performer?
If you do not boot out the lowest performing clubs:
1. The nay sayers (those outside looking in) will continue to laugh and argue that the "elite" program is not truly elite (does not have the strongest teams over time) 2. The charters and principles of ECNL (higher competition platform, ID the top players for the USWNT, etc.) will not be seen as consistent across the board 3. Again, the critics will continue to call it a YMCA (members only) program versus one re-assess its quality over time to retool its pool of "elite clubs"
USSF Development Academy on the boys side has had relegation for a while and I believe that is working pretty well, but then again, some argue that ECNL is not DA for girls (rightly so, in many regards). I believe that Virginia Rush may have been the first team to be booted out (they also lost USSF DA) this year? In the SE region, there has been lots of calls for some low-performing clubs to be swapped out with others - there are certainly a few contenders that may be equally deserving.
Long term, it is going to be interesting to see how the ECNL leadership handles this issue (its a balancing act that is tough to do as long as it is a "club" vs. a "team" invitation program). Although, moving towards a team membership with promotion / relegation simply creates what existed before, so that's very unlikely as well.

There was a post earlier about clubs losing ECNL. This hasn't happened in Ga but it was mentioned that it has in other states which I was not aware that clubs could lose it for poor performance. It's no secret that AFU ECNL is struggling so IF they were to lose it does anyone have insight on when this decision would be made?
