It's the last weekend of games and then on to tournaments (and hopefully a break for a little while!). Here are my guesses for U14 girls:
Athena A
DSC 0 - Norcross 1 - Both teams have given up a lot of goals. I'm guessing that Norcross will win this one.
NASA Elite 2 - NASA Premier 1 - Intra-club games are fun to watch. The teams seem to really know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Premier had the win in this matchup last season and they had a nice come from behind win last weekend. With the way Elite has been playing, I think it's their turn for a win this time.
Roswell 0 - SSA 1 - I think this game will be really close. Roswell will move up to 4th if they can pull out a win.
GSA 0 - UFA 2 - Well done earning a tie last weekend, GSA. UFA has outscored their opponents 12-0 the last few weeks and should be able to finish in 3rd.
Chiefs 0 - Tophat 4 - A win for TH leaves them in sole possession of first place. After a surprising tie last weekend, I think they'll come back with a big win. They've only given up three goals all season. Well done! Chiefs' forwards have not been able to be effective (other than against Norcross) although their defense has kept them in some games.
Athena B - Inter has clinched at least a tie for first in B so we should see them in A next season. Their two top scorers have an impressive number of goals. It looks like Chiefs and maybe DSC will spend a second year bouncing between A and B.
Saturday
AFC 0 - TSC 2 - It's been a loooooong season for AFC. This is one of their better chances to pick up a couple points but TSC has been a bit stronger the past couple weeks. It's a bummer for the AFC girls who played in A last season to be moved to C but they'll be much more successful there. TSC's forward has picked up some goals recently and it wouldn't surprise me if she scored a couple more here.
UFA 3 - TH White 1 - UFA had a big win last weekend. TH picked up a win last weekend after a long string of losses.
TH Navy 1 - AFU 2 - AFU had the only win against Inter this season. A win here probably won't move them up in the standings but they've done well. TH won't finish as high in the standings as last season but middle of the pack is still pretty good.
Ambush 2 - SSA 0 - A surprising loss to MAYS took away Ambush's chance to tie for first. They should win both of their games this weekend.
TSC 1 - SAF 3 - It's a double header day for TSC (and a three-game weekend). I would have scheduled this game first since it's probably the most difficult. A win here puts SAF in a tie for first.
Sunday
TSC 0 - Ambush 2 - If TSC can pull out one win this weekend, they should be able to move up a couple spots. Saturday's game against AFC is their best chance. I don't think Ambush will let this one get away.
Athena C - Savannah has won first place outright. After blowing out a few teams early on, they finished the season with a few really close games. Sounds like they have a really fast forward. Preventing their longballs to her seems to be key. Although looking at the scoring list, they have some other players who are threats too.
Friday
DSC 0 - CF North 1 - These teams seem pretty similar. I thought CF North would finish a bit higher. Maybe they'll pick up a win here and more up.
Saturday
Norcross 4 - Rome 1 - Norcross shouldn't have any trouble with Rome although Rome's games have gotten a bit closer as the season progressed.
UFA Dawson 3 - NASA 1 - This season NASA tied the strongest team but lost to the weakest so it's hard to know what to expect. Dawson has had a very good season although they slipped a bit in the standings with a couple losses recently.
Sunday
RYSA 1 - CF South 2 - I thought CF would struggle after losing a couple top scorers to their Elite team but they've done well. RYSA has had a good season. It was probably a wise choice to move down from B.
