Just curious what other clubs are doing for this cold weather. Fortunately I am at a club with an indoor facilty, we will be there tonight instead of the fields. Where or are you having practice??

At this point you're really only practicing for any end of season tournaments you're doing so it's not worth the risk of additional injury or kids getting sick for that tournament to keep practicing if it's super cold or wet. Last year when we kept getting rained or colded out - our coach got a gym and the girls played basketball then did some foot drills. The players loved it - and no one was sick for the end of year tournament!

After a gutsy win on Sunday night, I gave my team the night off anyway. Other than we have not missed a training date all season so I didn't mind skipping this one, In the back of my mind I was thinking it would be cold and really didn't want to be out there myself!

Our fields are still mush from yesterday so a few of the older teams did some light running while we gave our academy team the night off.
That basketball idea sounds like a great idea though! Good team bonding and still getting them to run around a little.

Our fields are still mush from yesterday so a few of the older teams did some light running while we gave our academy team the night off. That basketball idea sounds like a great idea though! Good team bonding and still getting them to run around a little. Hardest part of that is getting a gym. we were lucky and had a connection with a nearby church and used their facilities. Depending on the county you're in, you can check with their parks and rec to see if you can use one - or if your church is nearby and willing to let a group in. We ended up giving a donation to the church that let us use the gym - and some of the girls who needed service hours for school or scouts, volunteered to do some clean up around the grounds one weekend. If you get creative, no training need ever truly be cancelled. Soccer conditioning can be done off the field, too. I suggested a team kickboxing class once - for conditioning not learning to kick box opponents!
