It is flu season, and this year's vaccine is only about 60% or so effective. Seems to provide no protection against the most common strain. How many teams are having a hard time for this weekend's events due to sick players?

My kid's team may be lucky. Everyone got sick the week before thanksgiving and most are recovering. Fitness will definitely be a problem still because most were unable to run for a couple weeks. Literally 90% were ill.
Only a couple injuries now. So hopefully a good weekend them some time off.

For our team, it seems the flu is the least of the worries - we've been plagued by injuries all season - and not minor ones - torn ACL, avulsion fracture, broken tibia, broken shoulder plus the ankle tweaks, ligament strains that normally happen - it was a freaking perfect storm for my daughter's team this season with 7 on a roster of 17 injured at one point or another - one game we only had 10 available players. She finally got off crutches this past Monday and is very slowly getting back to movement and minor ball work.
And high school tryouts are in a month! Most schools have already started conditioning and fitness work so we're just hoping she can get back in shape to try out! As for this weekend - minimal roster again - still have four out including mine. Part of me is kind of hoping for a rain out - it's been a long hard fall season!

Injuries are tough and they seem to come in bunches..sometimes it seems they spread like the flu! Spectator...that is a tough list of injuries for one team. So glad your daughter is starting the recovery process! We battled the illness and injury bug as well but not nearly as extreme as your daughter's team.
