I assume all games are played as scheduled for the UFA-Norcross Adidas Generations Cup except for games being canceled at George Pierce Park and Rabbit Hill Park.
On another note, this was posted for GSA Adidas Invitational...
Henderson Park; Granite; Ashford Dunwoody, GSA Lilburn are all three hour delays
Georgia Soccer Park, RYSA , Briscoe and Bluesprings are on time.
Online schedules will be updated momentarily.
NO WARM UPS ON ANY FIELDS FOR THE DAY....
6:59am All RYSA Fields are scheduled ON TIME. All games at Lilburn on 3 hour delay.
Saturday, 6:32 am --- ALL Ashford Dunwoody games will be on a three hour delay.
Saturday, December 6 - 6:25 am
We have folks going out to all of the fields to assess playability and will update each location by 7:00am.

At least now they have updated the website to say all games are on as scheduled, except for xxxx. We were one of the many people who showed up for 8 and 9 o clock games who did not get an email. Website and call in line both said all games were on. Thanks to the guy on the Gator at the field who told us that it was cancelled.

When the weather is like this I always check website, email, text, and etc. before leaving the house. Adding to this, the team manager and/or coach should communicate to the team with any last minute and up to date status of all games. As they are the ones who usually get the notices first hand.

Just like gsa to wait to the last minute to close their fields.
Georgia Soccer Park, RYSA , Briscoe and Bluesprings are currently on schedule.
NO WARM UPS ON ANY FIELDS FOR THE DAY....
Ashford Dunwoody, Henderson Park, Granite and GSA Lilburn are now CLOSED for Saturday.
Best of luck to the team's still playing today!

Question to teams playing in the norcross cup, rumor is you all get a full refund if you're games are canceled due to weather??

I wonder what it means: "Fields Closed for Saturday". Are they going to play games tomorrow?

I know gsa is trying to reschedule and move some games from today to tomorrow so probably. Better to have 3 games tomorrow then none at all right?

Yeah I'm sure it was a mudfest. Hopefully everyone got to show off their all white kits, haha. Hopefully everyone will get some decent games in tomorrow. I'm just happy we are off this week, and getting ready for Athens next weekend.

We got our 8am game in at Allen Creek in Gainesville but the games after us at 9:30 on our field were called. Other fields at the complex played til 11am but all games scheduled 11am or after were called. The field we were on, Field 9, is at the lowest most point in the complex and they were swamped. Fields on the higher part were better but still had a little standing water however it's up to the county to make that decision. They closed that complex for the whole weekend so our tourney is over. Some didn't get any games in and I suspect they'll get a full refund. We got one game in so I am unsure for us. Too bad as the fields will be better for tomorrow but again it's not UFA's decision. I suspect they would've kept them open if they were able to. Oh well...I can't really complain. Counting tourneys, my u9 kid played in 27 games in this fall season and that's a whole bunch! I'd say it's over but of course indoor starts next week! LOL

Norcross should have an interesting time figuring out refunds with some teams playing no games, some 1 or 2 and some will likely play all. It looks like pretty much all the select teams at the GSA tourney got their games in. For teams that were rained out today, they'll try to get in two games tomorrow. That will probably work at Granite but I'd be surprised if their fields in Lilburn are dry enough by tomorrow. I guess by playing a couple games, they'll feel that they won't need to offer any refunds.
It looks like tomorrow should be really nice weather. It's too bad this rain didn't come through a few days earlier.

Gsa doesn't offer any refund even if you don't get the three games in. Pretty much if they hadn't canceled it by last week then anyone that had paid was SOL. This is why I love what Norcross Cup is doing with refunds and why we'll definitely take our academy team there next year.

Yeah I'm sure it was a mudfest. Hopefully everyone got to show off their all white kits, haha. Hopefully everyone will get some decent games in tomorrow. I'm just happy we are off this week, and getting ready for Athens next weekend. OMG you have no idea! South Forsyth Park was open - the field we played on was practically underwater by the time our game started and yes, they were wearing white. To really make it miserable, my kid couldn't even play but insisted on going and sitting on the bench with her teammates - thank goodness we had a tent for the players - parents mostly huddled under umbrellas or under the picnic shelter there. By far the worst conditions I've ever seen a game played in and probably the most miserable spectator experience ever. While I'm glad our team got all the games in, it was pure luck no player got seriously injured trying to play on a muddy waterlogged field full of huge puddles. Our first goal in that game was only because the goalie slipped and the ball literally caught a wave and surfed on into the net. You really couldn't pass the ball -it'd stop in the puddles and just float or the players would lose their footing and not accurately deliver. The only way to score on a field like that is to just kick a hail mary and hope for the best or teach the ball to surf! None of the early games were 'well played' soccer - the field conditions were too horrific to allow for that. They really should have cancelled all games at South Forsyth on Saturday - Sunday wasn't much better but at least the sun was out and the fields used weren't completely trashed.

My oldest daughter played on those fields in the spring during the UFA tourney in the spring of this year and it poured. She fell face first in the mud and her gold kit was a muddy mess. The club seems to have more control over whether those fields close. By the time they were done for the weekend, those fields were destroyed!

LOL - Jack - tell me that was BEFORE they were washed not after! One of our teammates' mom said she had to really scrub and use bleach on the white jersey and shorts to get enough of the mud out so the uniform would be somewhat white again. Of course this was the mom of the wing who probably face planted ten times in that first game. Our goalie went for a goal kick and literally wiped out landing on her butt - she was laughing so hard she almost didn't get up - thankfully the other team was laughing too and didn't try to capitalize on that error - or maybe they couldn't get through all the mud to get to the ball before she grabbed it again. We had friends who played on that field before us and three of their players literally dove into the puddle in front of the goal after their game - I saw the video - it did look fun and I'm glad these players can at least scrape up some frivolity when playing in such horrific conditions. But most thankful no one got hurt. I'd love to see what those fields look like today but no way am I driving it all the way back up 400 just for a peak.

We caught a couple of my niece's games at Georgia Soccer Park this weekend for the GSA tourney. It rained earlier in the morning but luckily her first game wasn't until late morning. By then there was an occasional sprinkle but that was about it. There were definitely puddles around the fields but the fields themselves looked pretty good. They must drain really well. I'm sure the fields were wet but there didn't appear to be any puddles and play didn't seem to be affected. Sunday turned out to be really nice weather for playing soccer and the fields were excellent. Other than not having real bathrooms and having minimal concessions, that turned out to be a great location for a tournament. I wish they could have pulled in some refs from all the games that were canceled though since a few games were missing an AR.

. I wish they could have pulled in some refs from all the games that were canceled though since a few games were missing an AR. This is going to continue to be a big problem until GA Soccer addresses how parents and coaches deal with referees and how clubs schedule tournaments. First, there were multiple tournaments happening this weekend (before the weather kicked in) and since my kid is an R9 referee, we got emails from several assignors asking for referees. Multiple emails as late as Friday night practically BEGGING for referees so you know they had issues getting them. Second - Most of your R9s who could be AR's are also players - can't ref and play a tournament so that's really bad scheduling all around. Third - my kid is an R9 - she has told me she does not want to take the certification for R8 and doesn't ever want to ref again. After her last few times, she absolutely hated it and said no amount of money was worth that much abuse from stupid adults who didn't understand the game or her job. I can't say I blame her but I'm still trying to get her to continue - it's great work for a 14 year old player and keeps her busy.

My daughter did ref one game at Allen Creek (youngest was playing there) before the games were cancelled. We woke up Sunday morning to a request from the ref assignor to work starting at 8am at East Jones Bridge Park but we got the email too late. It's got to be tough for those assignors on these huge tourney weekends not only to find enough refs that want to do it but find ones that aren't playing. I second what spectator said above. My kid has no intentions on ever being a center ref as they are usually the ones that take the most abuse. It's a shame....she knows her stuff but I can't say I blame her.

Yep it was before they were washed. They ended up pretty clean but it was the final game with that kit and she moved to AFU anyway so I guess that was the best way to end with that uni. LOL

OK,here's a question. Would you rather have a : A) cancelled tournament and get a full (or mostly full refund) or B) cancelled Sat, play two games on Sun, no finals, no trophies, no refund.
I know I would pick B)

b)

I say A, these tournaments are to expensive to get just two games in, plus they also shorten the halves even more. Maybe for the higher end, ultra competitive tournaments but for these basic medium range ones for Atlanta that money can be spent traveling to fields that can hold a little a water. Makes me miss my Pac NW days when a little rain doesn't scare anyone.
